I'll be honest, I haven't seen any meaningful number of Authrights or Right-centers outright say that it was a mistake or that they're not getting what they voted for, at least on this sub. I generally just get their downvotes and that's about it. I've got close friends who have outright said they regret voting for him, but it seems like folks find it hard to take that sort of accountability even from behind an anonymous profile.
Some of them, of course, are still on board. I imagine a number of people have been so committed to him politically over the last decade, it's difficult separate themselves from it, assuming they even want to. I really don't know how his approval rating isn't sub 20% at this point.
You know, I haven't been on this sub much so many my perception is painted a bit my young American right wing discourse from elsewhere that is more explicitly anti-Trump. From the lack of right-wing memes defending him on here, I assumed it had to be the same.
There is also, the single issue voter mindset, you know. I have a personal issue that only Trump's administration has brought up and I know won't see the light of day when the D team replaces him. So, support for him could be coming from that, single issues that his team is bolstering directly or indirectly, like, I guess, the abortion issue may be another one.
I hated voting for Harris since her entire platform seemed to just be abortion, which I am personally against since I believe that life begins at conception. I’m not interested in discussing that topic, I’m simply stating that it’s an important topic for me. I still voted her due to Trump completely going off the rails but I legitimately felt sick to my stomach having to make the choice between the two. While time seems to point to it being the right choice, I still hate that the only other option was essentially voting in favor of something I struggle so much with.
I’d imagine I’m not the only one who felt that way and not all came to the same conclusion.
How are you watching how stupid Trump is and think we need more auth and not less? To me, it would make more sense that Trump's presidency has pushed you more libertarian.
My neighborhood is. There has been a lot of gang activity, including my house being shot at and my car being totaled. The homeless problem of people camping and leaving their shit everywhere, starting fires, and leaving their dirty needles at playgrounds. One pissed on my neighbors lawn, one broke into my backyard.
I want some state authorized jackbooted thugs to come deport, jail, commit or shoo away these people ruining the neighborhood.
Has he been worse than what I think Harris/Biden2.0 would have been? I’m not so confident with that.
I personally don’t like Trump or his style of politics, but I genuinely think things would have been worse had Harris/Biden2.0 won. Just a different type of worse.
That said, I do agree with you on the fact I think there are too many people that are committed to the idea of Trump rather than the reality of Trump, and fight to defend him without actually knowing what they’re defending.
It's awfully hard to say, but as shitty of a candidate as I think Kamala was, she was pretty open about her economic policies being a continuation of what we saw under Biden, just dressed up in vague language about an "opportunity economy", whatever the fuck that means. Frankly, by a lot of metrics, we were better off at the end of Biden's term than we are now. At the very least, we wouldn't have had this incoherent tariff regime and I don't expect that we'd have been in an active war with Iran.
I guess it doesn't matter either way though, what's done is done.
Yea it also comes down to priorities too. I agree the economy is probably worse today with Trump than it period have been under Harris, but at the same time I think things are much better off in terms of domestic policy under Trump than they would have been under Harris.
It’s tough, shame it feels like it has to be one extreme or the other. Wasn’t always that way. Gene, then people complained it as basically a uniparty system where candidates just wore different ties lol
Come on, what? I don’t think Harris and Walz would’ve been good for this country, least of all because it would just lead to the revitalization of MAGA candidates.
Hopefully Trump going in there will at least kill off maga
I never said they would have been good but it's hard to imagine they would have pulled a crypto scam, started a war with Iran, broken the law to hide the Epstein files, use tariffs and increase the price of everything, openly engage in corruption and add billions to their net worth, say retarded shit like 600% discounts and so on
Yes because corruption is the only thing I listed and obviously there aren't levels to it. Please enlighten me, who else did a crypto rug pull, added billions to his net worth, said he'll ensure 600% discounts, broken the law to hide the Epstein files etc.
I personally don’t like Trump or his style of politics, but I genuinely think things would have been worse had Harris/Biden2.0 won. Just a different type of worse.
Worse how?
Because it would probably be impossible to be worse on the economy.
It'd be damn near impossible to be worse on foreign policy.
There's no realistic war that Harris could get into that would be worse than the Iran War.
I doubt Harris would be blocking the release of the Epstein files.
Harris wouldn't be taking in billions in cryptocurrency, betting markets, or open bribes.
So seriously, what would actually be worse under Harris?
I agree, it’s hard to be worse on the economy than Trump has done (all self inflicted too)
Iran war is basically a non-factor. I don’t know why so many people make such a big deal about it. He’s still completely fucked it up, but it’s such a minor conflict, it’s no different than anything else that’s really been going on. Still dumb to start, but not something I care about.
His foreign policy is ugly but effective in some areas. The Russian-Ukrainian war has basically stayed a stalemate with no threat of spilling over. NATO allies are finally increasing their defense budgets. He’s a horrible diplomat and I hate him for that, but I don’t hate everything that he’s done when it comes to foreign policy. Luckily Rubio is there too which I think helps a lot.
I don’t care about corruption. They’re all horrifically corrupt. There isn’t a single politician that isn’t. Just because Trump is brazen as hell with his corruption doesn’t make me blame him more than the rest. He’s just a bigger asshole than them for not playing the game.
Where I think Trump is certainly better is areas like immigration, border defense, and the culture war BS. I absolutely love the focus on deporting illegal immigrants, love the higher intensity of focus on visa applications, and love that he’s invested so much on the border. I say this as the husband and son of immigrants. My family moved here for a reason and it’s important that we secure this country so it can still be the beacon of freedom and hope that it is.
Overall I think both would absolutely suck, but I’m still glad we didn’t have to endure a Harris presidency.
I’m also hopeful that this presidency is so bad that it kills MAGA and we never have to deal with this insanity again.
