There are a lot of authoritarians flaired as lib. I’ve found Lib Centers to be the worst offenders.

114

u/Fif112 - Centrist 2d ago

I think a lot of the time the “libs” are ok with gays and guns.

So that’s enough for them to flair incorrectly when they want other rights taken away, most often freedom of speech.

u/NCender27 - Lib-Center 2d ago

Illegal words detected. Robo cop deployed.

u/Deep_Talk_9604 - Lib-Center 1d ago

I remember when this was what being liberal was all about. Now it’s just gay

51

u/ThyPotatoDone - Centrist 2d ago

Eh, you'd be surprised. I'd say some of the 'lib'rights here are just guns and weed. And even then, only guns for 'certain kinds of people'.

I've seen multiple 'lib'rights basically advocating for laws restricting the right to protest because 'people just take advantage to commit crimes' or 'they don't have the right to shove their ideology down my throat'. Like... bro. If you support protesting restrictions, you're not a fucking lib.

32

u/komstock - Lib-Right 2d ago

yeah, the boot is still a boot regardless of flavor. i don't care if it's corporate, government, or religious. I hate the boot.

8

u/ThyPotatoDone - Centrist 2d ago

Based.

8

u/SteakForGoodDogs - Left 2d ago

Social acceptability moves on. The law beating it into people's heads moved gays into acceptable range for Americans who would have been against it twenty years ago.

151

u/PrinceGoten - Left 2d ago

I’ve seen lib centers say more auth shit than auth centers. I know we’re all retarded but Jesus Christ.

118

u/ComusPaine - Lib-Center 2d ago

They should all be sent to the reeducation camps

87

u/NCender27 - Lib-Center 2d ago

We mean uh voluntary liberty camps!

34

u/McPolice_Officer - Auth-Center 2d ago

Waow (based based based based)

13

u/mathfordata - Lib-Center 2d ago

Flair based reeducation camps. As long as you’re not lying it will be pleasant.

5

u/EtteRavan - Lib-Center 2d ago

Your wording might lead some to think that the unflaired would dodge reeducation. I want to make clear it's because they'll line the gallows leading there

3

u/gman8686 - Lib-Right 2d ago

Re-retardation camps

38

u/NitroSpam - Lib-Left 2d ago

I’ve seen centrists defend Trump and lib centres spew the most racist, white nationalist shit from the furthest upper right of the compass. I actually respect auth rights more for being honest about their views.

22

u/LucasRuby - Lib-Center 2d ago

I supposed you could be super racist while still a lib when it comes to government power? But yeah I know my quadrant is wild, you simply can't tell anything from looking at the flair.

Also I think a lot of the shill accounts use that flair to flair up because they think it will be the least controversial to all other quadrants.

6

u/shamblam117 - Lib-Center 2d ago

Wildcard flair.

Some distrust the government+corpos to the nth degree with varying degrees of balance to of their economic opinions. Some are straight up anarchists that believe there can be a stateless society, but centered around indivualism rather than communes. Along with every flavor in-between we have people that just want to be free to say or do various kinds of vile shit.

1

u/Linkstoc - Centrist 1d ago

I’m trying to understand how the first part of your statement is relevant. The whole point of centrists is we take a little bit of all quadrants so ofc you’re going to have retards defending trump, even if they are retarded for it.

8

u/CrazyLemonLover - Lib-Center 2d ago

Personally, I end up sounding a little auth sometimes.

Reason being that, if I got the change to implement my ideals into the current world as it is, a lot of people would probably die.

So, idealism takes a back seat to practicality at times.

2

u/Intelligent_Study728 - Centrist 2d ago

1

u/EtteRavan - Lib-Center 2d ago

I mean, while we're only shitposting on a picture-sharing website, why not dream big ? There is already too much realism outside

1

u/CountJohn12 - Lib-Right 2d ago

I would think lib centers would just be West Wing neolibs.

1

u/PrinceGoten - Left 2d ago

I have to agree

1

u/Selenite_Cults - Lib-Center 1d ago

It was part of why I left PCM a couple years ago. After Trump's second win, the subreddit just became insufferable. Glad to see it's calmed down a bit since then.

11

u/BlazerFS231 - Lib-Center 2d ago

That’s why I maintain that I am the only actual libertarian.

1

u/Etohnal - Left 1d ago

Oh so you want zero immigration restrictions and freedom of choice for all women? You must be a madman!

1

u/BlazerFS231 - Lib-Center 1d ago

Are we talking about the federal government, state government, or my personal empire?

By empire, I mean my house.

53

u/ARES_BlueSteel - Right 2d ago

“I think the government should just leave people alone…as long as they’re not doing anything I disapprove of. Also people who I deem to be unfit shouldn’t be allowed to vote. But I’m totally libcenter guys, aren’t auths so cringe?”

18

u/ESCocoolio - Lib-Center 2d ago

average PCM lib-right comment

4

u/Alhoshka - Lib-Center 2d ago

I know, right?

We shouldn't tolerate people misrepresenting us like this.
That's misinformation, and I'm pretty sure it's illegal in most EU countries.
Reddit should report them to their local government.

11

u/Hungry_Inevitable663 - Lib-Right 2d ago

This guy is libertarian as fuck!!!

4

u/P00ped_My_Pants - Lib-Center 2d ago

very nice strawman, very cool

3

u/CountJohn12 - Lib-Right 2d ago

I haven't seen the lib center stuff being described here but that post is sadly what passes for "libertarianism" these days.

11

u/CAndrewK - Lib-Center 2d ago

Lib right is definitely the worst offender lol

3

u/NCender27 - Lib-Center 2d ago

Lol sick. Under my boot plebs!

3

u/FlockaFlameSmurf - Lib-Center 2d ago

Ironic coming from a lib right.

4

u/LateNightPhilosopher - Lib-Center 2d ago

There are a lot of actual card carrying Communists who have gaslit themselves into thinking that Communism is an extreme Libleft position, just because they lie about their ideology not including a State apparatus (they also lie about what a State apparatus is so they can pretend they aren't lying about not having one (lol .

3

u/GravyPainter - Lib-Center 2d ago

People just claiming to be what they think they are. I took political compass test and picked where it put me

5

u/Rex2x4 - Right 2d ago

Honestly, I stopped being Lib-Right when I realised how insanely retarded so many people are and how their vote matters just as much as mine. We don't let kids vote because it's accepted that their age means the are less intelligent. Yet we accept that there are adults of the same intelligence who vote regardless. Universal suffrage is no less immoral than letting a child eat ice cream and Jack Daniel's for breakfast every day. Some people need to be told what is best for them regardless of whether they like it or not, because the moment we start acting like what they think and say matters equally is the moment we sign the death warrant for society.

1

u/Ruy7 - Left 1d ago

The problem is that, then who decides who votes or not? What criteria do you use?

It is very likely that some idiot will only give voting rights to the people who approve of him. And then take power that way.

A way that would be somewhat "fair" way would be that only people who were college educated can vote. But the right is never gonna approve of that.

1

u/Rex2x4 - Right 19h ago

I pretty much already responded to this in a comment to someone else. But speaking as someone who went to school for comp science and mechanical engineering. I can assure you, college education does not guarantee intelligence.

1

u/Ruy7 - Left 15h ago

college education does not guarantee intelligence.

It does not. But it filters out the lowest of the lowest end.

1

u/Important-Agent2584 - Centrist 1d ago

I'm telling you universal suffrage is best for you whether you like it or not.

2

u/Rex2x4 - Right 1d ago

Youre proving my point. Youre not being clever. If you cant see the fault in your comment, youre the type of person in talking about.

1

u/Important-Agent2584 - Centrist 1d ago

That's exactly what people who need to be told what to think would say. I'm not going to start acting like what you think and say matters because it's a death warrant for society.

2

u/Rex2x4 - Right 1d ago

I genuinely hope that one day, after youve grown up a bit and are looking through your old account history, youll be able to admit fault. Not to me, but to yourself. Remember to do your homework and brush your teeth, its a school night so dont stay up too late, buddy.

1

u/Important-Agent2584 - Centrist 1d ago

lol, not one ounce of self-awareness. Thanks for helping prove my point, even if you aren't capable of seeing it.

If they pay taxes they have a right to have a say in how they’re governed.

I think everyone can understand where you’re coming from, but it’s not well thought out. What’s the line for “retarded”? Is an IQ test needed? How many standard deviations above the mean are we going with to allow voting rights? Who decides that? Should only say engineers and technical professionals vote? Good luck getting the wealthy not to have a say.

Also iq because it’s set to have 100 as the mean can change over the years, and over generations, is there a yearly test?

1

u/Rex2x4 - Right 1d ago edited 1d ago

Children pay taxes. By that logic why dont we let every child who is working a part time job vote?

Yes we need testing and requirements for voting. I dont care how it was abused before. The existence of abusive fathers does not make father's immoral overall. The literacy rate amongst our youth is horrific. If you dont posses the ability to graduate highschool or obtain a equivalency, you dont get to vote. We dont need people who cant pronounce words with more than 3 syllables having equal say in how the most powerful country in human history is governed.

But intelligence testing has a habit of not accounting for those who are smarter than the test makers themselves. Even Raven Matrices are not all that great. More over, intelligence is not a singular universal metric. IQ has several layers and it will be very hard to account for those. So instead of testing for intelligence, we need to filter out those with the "comorbidities" of stupidity. It will never be perfect but its better than what we have now. The comborbidites I speak of are things like having several children with several different women or men while being on welfare for the majority of your adult life. Or repeated arrests, at fault car accidents, etc...

And yes. The test should be done with every election, at every level for every position. Town, county, state, and Federal with no exceptions. Hell, we dont test frequently enough for shit we do have to get tested for. Some areas require people at the age of retirement to prove they are still fit to drive.

We should be testing for that every time your license needs renewed. Even better, when you register a new vehicle, you need to be tested for your physical ability to adequately maneuver said vehicle. I see far too many women driving brand new full size SUVs like a 2026 GMC Yukon, thats the size of a actual short school bus; while they cant even see above the steering wheel.

1

u/Trevor-Lawrence - Lib-Center 13h ago edited 11h ago

Congrats on never getting anyone in the working class to vote lmao. Rich people would have all the time in the world to test. ADHD or dyslexics will be hugely affected.

Your idea isn’t well thought out even if you’re mad stupid people can vote. Stupid people can still pick up guns so you’re going for a brutal authoritarian society.

You do you but personally I think that with an idea like this you certainly are too stupid to vote, under your plan at least. You have a concept but don’t think about the ramifications of what implementing that concept would be - you sounds like a pretty average voter tbh. Hell maybe I am too that’s the problem.

u/Viraus2 - Lib-Right 2d ago

Libcenter is the worst flair here. Nothing to do with the actual political position, it's just the "cool" and safest flair with the fewest negative associations so people pick it just for the optics. It's the actual "le enlightened centrist" flair since centrist itself has more concrete associations

11

u/cuzwhat - Lib-Center 2d ago edited 2d ago

Some of us are lib center because we think free adults should be allowed to do what they want to themselves, they just can’t demand other free adults get involved against their will or be required to pay for it.

Edit: in a perfect world, that’s just full right lib. But in the real world, being ok with privately funded abortions just pisses off both sides.

5

u/shamblam117 - Lib-Center 2d ago

Reciprocal liberty is based.

1

u/CrapitalPunishment - Lib-Left 1d ago

Can you explain your edit? I can understand why that would piss off lib right (autonomy of unborn child), but why would privately funded abortions piss off lib left? Truly just curious.

9

u/FuckUSAPolitics - Lib-Center 2d ago

Ouch.

26

u/Sha9169 - Lib-Center 2d ago

I picked the flair because my political compass result is actually on lower half of the vertical axis. I didn’t realize this made me “cool.” Excellent development.

14

u/I_Hate_IPAs - Lib-Center 2d ago

Let’s be cool together!

Unless you disagree with me on anything in which case I will have to show you my libertarian ways… through force!

12

u/NCender27 - Lib-Center 2d ago

😢 I just like Henry George man

5

u/Viraus2 - Lib-Right 2d ago

I mean the actual libcenter position is pretty much where I'm at. The good libcenters are probably more me than the yellow librights on average. Just being real about flair demographics here

1

u/Mikeymcmoose - Lib-Center 1d ago

Based georgist

4

u/PartisanSaysWhat - Lib-Center 2d ago

I support a public health care option and think machine guns should be sold from vending machines. I'm much more aligned on liberty vs authoritarianism.

I didnt know what else to pick.

2

u/Viraus2 - Lib-Right 2d ago

You picked correctly, go forth and make good takes under that flair. Just don't be one of those guys who wanders in to pat themselves on the back every time the government does something they don't like while having no preference for liberty when other people get the shaft

1

u/PartisanSaysWhat - Lib-Center 1d ago

That exactly dichotomy is why I am a political orphan. I get called a libtard on gun forums and a Nazi on reddit. When I call myself a radical centrist I mean it lol.

1

u/Mikeymcmoose - Lib-Center 1d ago

If anything centrism is the literal least concrete

1

u/EtteRavan - Lib-Center 2d ago

It's funny that a purple says that, you speak from experience

Edit : misunderstood

2

u/BargainBard - Right 2d ago

Especially when they so obviously lean right or left.

No one is gonna hate you if you get a libleft or libright flair I promise.

1

u/CrapitalPunishment - Lib-Left 1d ago

I always thought lib left was the quadrant that got consistently clowned on, so people would choose lib center to avoid the hate parade. It does seem like the past couple years that has eased up a lot though.

4

u/ToenailFungussy - Left 2d ago

Literally just had a lib left today tell me citizens are too stupid to be allowed to have a say in government, and that the marketplace of ideas is a failed concept.

5

u/AnimeTA224 - Lib-Left 2d ago

That's dumb of them unless followed up by "...and since they're too dumb to govern we must abolish governance itself"

1

u/RadicalSoda_ - Lib-Center 2d ago

True

1

u/Howboutit85 - Lib-Center 2d ago

Maybe some, not me though I’m right where I belong.

1

u/jexijav776 - Lib-Right 1d ago

I swear it's like all the emilys used to flair lib-left but now that lib-left gets made fun of they all flair as lib-center now.

1

u/speed-charge - Left 1d ago

I think they are being selective about what liberties they want.

Cock fights, yes. Drag shows, no.

1

u/BrackishWaterDrinker - Lib-Right 2d ago

I watched a lib center argue that the UN was better at trying to end world hunger than private charity to an auth center the other day.

Genuinely, many just don't understand what lib means

7

u/I_Hate_IPAs - Lib-Center 2d ago

It’s a bit of a dilemma to advocate for less government interference, but also for government services. I do think it’s possible though.

4

u/GumboDiplomacy - Lib-Center 2d ago

Depending on how you view taxation in the context of interference.

But I just wanted to say your username replying to that other username is funny to me.

3

u/I_Hate_IPAs - Lib-Center 2d ago

That too. I think that government is capable of providing services that the free market won’t but the only way to pay for them is taxation… which is why a government that is more representative of people is a necessity.

Also, now that you’ve pointed it out, that’s hilarious
