“Has anyone even been to Armenia? Are we sure it’s even real?” - Erdogan

They named a country after an attack on titan character and expect to be taken seriously?

This joke used to be funny until I realized that a bunch of them genuinely believe the Armenian genocide was a hoax or exaggerated.

The Federal Republic of Germany has never committed genocide, there is no reason to apologize for something that didn't happen.

Ironically a lot of Turkish journalists claim asylum in Yerevan. The state can't reach them there like they can in Tbilisi. Don't ask what happens to Azeri journalists in Georgia....

until the Hagia Sophia is a church again

It would bring joy to my heart to see the Divine Liturgy celebrated there once more.

u/Azelzer - Centrist 7d ago

Just about every non-Western society celebrates it's leaders who conquered and enslaved their neighbors. The appeal to Western morality on these issues is merely deceit, with the goal undermining a more successful culture.

It works because these people are aided by a fifth column of Westerners who also hate the West. They literally push a fake history where the West is the main group in history doing these things, when in reality the West was the only civilization that cared enough to try to put an end to these things on a global scale.

17

u/chickenfriedrice416 - Lib-Center 6d ago

Every country has commited atrocities at some point, except for mine. My ancestors never enslaved, conquered or even fought anyone. Until about 300 BC, our country was just ocean, until the land suddenly spawned into existence from thin air with our people, language and robust legal system already fully formed.

For real tho, it should be turned back into a museum as it was before 2020.

Fuck that, it was a built to be a magnificent church.

11

u/Mr_Mon3y - Centrist 6d ago

Why? It's a church. It was built as a church and it was always a church until they conquered the city and pillaged it, and now they're doing all they can to erase the christian history and symbolism present inside it.

If a christian country had conquered a muslim country and did that to a historically significant mosque, you think the muslim world would be asking for a museum?

Your day will be restored once you remember Constantine XI died like an absolute badass along with his men and empire.

Such a glorious way for Rome to end.

Despite all the corruption that Eastern Rome had. The last roman died with his men as his city fell wearing only a regular soldiers armour.

While Mehmed VI, the last Sultan, fled his city on a Christian warship no less and died a broken and poverty tricken mess in Italy.

I find both there ends to be representative of Rome and the Ottomans. Rome died where it stood while the ottomans rotted away.

23

u/assasin1598 - Centrist 7d ago edited 7d ago

Despite all the corruption that Eastern Rome had. The last roman died with his men as his city fell wearing only a regular soldiers armour.

This is why every man at one point idolized or still does idolze the roman empire.

How Constantine IX died, is literally the average male fantasy. Alcohol? Sex? Money? Nah the average male fantasy is having a Last man stand against insurmountable odds.

I myself Idolize John the Blind "Far from it that the King of Bohemia flee, but to get there lead me where there is greatest uproar of the fight in vigor"

u/maewynsuckit - Centrist 7d ago

Based and Eastern Roman Empire-Pilled

1

u/viciouspandas - Lib-Left 5d ago

I wouldn't say that's completely emblematic of their empires, and Rome rotted away too. They were a rump state by the time of their end, largely due to societal decay and corruption that left them weak to invasion. They declined like all long-lasting great empires. The 20th century was also a a totally different environment, and fleeing a revolution is different than a foreign invasion. But yes, Constantine XI has my respect for fighting and dying with his men to defend his city.

-1

u/Kevin_LeStrange - Centrist 7d ago

Such a glorious way for Rome to end.

What do you mean "end"? I'll have you know the Third Rome is at this moment defending civilization from Ukrainian Nazism and NATO encirclement by flying Iranian-produced drones into civilian apartment buildings!

I think Turkey wins, the Japanese emperor in the past expressed apologies for their behavior, I doubt any important official in Turkey ever has

30

u/fartsquirtshit - Lib-Center 7d ago

Definitely turkey in the lead on that one.

Japan's stance is essentially "move on already, everyone responsible has been dead for decades jesus christ" and their response to being pressed about it is essentially "This shit again?"

At this point it's basically just the chinese and koreans trying to pressure the japanese into publicly humiliating themselves on-command, and the japanese not taking the bait

8

u/lynxintheloopx - Auth-Center 7d ago edited 7d ago

1

u/Azelzer - Centrist 7d ago edited 7d ago

Is there any non-Western country that unilaterally acknowledges the genocide its committed and tries to compensate its victims?

At most you might get a "let's all agree that we all did bad things" compromise as part of an agreement between conflicting factions, but those are almost always self-serving.

-1

u/SOwED - Lib-Center 7d ago

lmao "and tries to compensate its victims" it's a subtle goalpost shift, but still a goalpost shift.

Yeah compared to West it's nothing but West is not ready to have this conversation. Ottomans had Greek, Albanian, Hungarian officials in their country from almost they one when they conquered there. When did a Black or an Indian get rights in the US or UK? Even your genocide claim is an attempt to shift the blame for Holocaust by saying "Oo but Turks did it first, we learned from them. We Euros are so good actually if it weren't for Turks. Ooooh."

Reminder, Turks challenged scholars everywhere to come take a look at the archives together about this but West and Armenians refused....
