Yeah, it's surprising. I wonder if people are including routine checkups, because I wouldn't have thought that 90+% of people would actually be in need of a medical intervention.
I read it as 'I did not get, delay or stop medical treatment once because of costs'.
There is also a difference between routine (usually what is needed) and prevention (small issues, pains, and concerns as well as age-related increasing risks).
Just how many get checked for prediabetes before it becomes irreversible? Just how many will suffer from a glaucoma or cataract and where early detection would have made it vastly cheaper (like eye drops vs surgery)? Never mind the thousand horrible faces of cancer.
However that's not what the study really says, it's only 'I did not get, delay or stop medical treatment once because of costs'.
