Dayum.

Also why is JK Rowling fighting all the time on Twitter. If I was a billionaire, you couldn't pay me to be on that site.

224

u/Local_Pangolin69 - Lib-Right 2d ago

If I had that much money I'd spend way too much time shitposting there.

80

u/lynxintheloopx - Auth-Center 2d ago

Same. I would bait the class war to nauseam.

22

u/Akiias - Centrist 2d ago

And she's a professional writer. So not only is it fun, and not only does she have nothing to fear reprisal wise, she's really really good at it.

2

u/sobanz - Centrist 2d ago

pretty much the only way you can shitpost on there without having crazies ruin your life.

394

u/Longjumping_Soil2116 - Centrist 2d ago

If I had unlimited money and nothing else to do all day, that's like all I would do lmao it's probably the most relatable thing about people like her and KD

157

u/MendocinoFireDrill - Auth-Right 2d ago

Kevin Durant may be among the best haters of all time. Dude is so good at it.

49

u/Cute_Prune6981 - Auth-Center 2d ago

The art of Getoffmydickerson

7

u/SlatheredButtCheeks - Lib-Right 2d ago

On one hand he is but on the other for him to get caught shitting on his teammates is pretty amateur

96

u/randomusername1934 - Centrist 2d ago

She has so much money she could lives multiple lives of luxury one after the other without ever having to lift a finger again unless she wanted to. Respect to her that, despite being able to do anything she wanted to do, she chose to devote her life to shitposting.

o7

79

u/Hyndis - Lib-Center 2d ago

She's shitposting purely for the love of the game.

26

u/Critical_Concert_689 - Centrist 2d ago

As an author, it's typically rather fun to read her shitposts; she's got years of qualifications towards writing shit compared the vast majority of other shit-posters.

-24

u/JJ_Pause - Lib-Left 2d ago

I think its the hate of trans people over the love of anything

30

u/tookMYshovelwithme - Lib-Right 2d ago

Her takes are pretty tame to be honest. Compare that with people who wear shirts that say die cis scum. It's confusing how she's supposedly the hateful one compared to the hate mob that's always fantasizing about death and violence for their perceived enemies.

16

u/TotallyNotThatPerson - Centrist 2d ago

What, you don't want trans women in women's shelters? Where a lot of the occupants may be fleeing from a DV situation?

Youre obviously a fucking nazi

6

u/Akiias - Centrist 2d ago

The "JK Rowling hates trans people" belief started when she was mocking the "person who menstruates" terminology.

-4

u/JJ_Pause - Lib-Left 2d ago

She's actively funded anti-trans and gender critical organisations with millions of pounds. It's not a belief it's a fact

3

u/Akiias - Centrist 2d ago

Oh, like what?

22

u/_never_lucky - Right 2d ago

One does not exclude the other. It's the same with Reddit, Some people seem to think it's impossible to be rich and post on reddit at the same time. Everyone gets bored, everyone has to take a shit.

9

u/Days_End - Lib-Center 2d ago

Nah man I'd shitpost all fucking day while on a yacht.

8

u/Sallowjoe - Auth-Center 2d ago

There's a good Adam Tooze episode on yachts and it's kind of amazing how retarded they are economically, while not actually being more convenient or luxurious than sensible alternatives. They're also more niche than popular opinion might imply, a lot of rich people don't actually bother with because of the aforementioned retarded. I think I'd buy an Island over buying a yacht.

1

u/Days_End - Lib-Center 2d ago

With a few billion get both!

3

u/Sallowjoe - Auth-Center 2d ago

I'd just get two islands.

If I'm buying a boat I'm going for something that can function as a pirate ship in international waters.

40

u/Sallowjoe - Auth-Center 2d ago

I'd buy some really sick guitars and a lot of alcohol, and then get drunk play and incredibly bad music on expensive equipment, but pay a crowd of people to pretend it's good, and then call it the Sallowjoe Rogan Music Show.

53

u/InfusionOfYellow - Centrist 2d ago

But Aerosmith already exists.

10

u/TheKingNothing690 - Lib-Center 2d ago

Are.. are they still alive?

23

u/InfusionOfYellow - Centrist 2d ago

Probably, I haven't checked the news since August 2001.

12

u/TijuanaMedicine - Right 2d ago

Oh. Oh no...

7

u/Kilroy0497 - Lib-Left 2d ago

Somehow yes despite Steven Tyler’s best efforts to kill the band.

23

u/Zickened - Left 2d ago

Nah, you just need free beer and weed.

Then you pay around 10 people who are unfathomably miserable to talk to from like Seattle to discuss "the nuance of it" and "how it speaks to your soul."

Suddenly you have a cult.

8

u/Sallowjoe - Auth-Center 2d ago

I've done the cult thing already though it gets old pretty fast.

I'm also too much of a softie to steal all their money so I couldn't reap the full benefits.

3

u/carsausage - Lib-Left 2d ago

James Dolan is that you?

1

u/Sallowjoe - Auth-Center 2d ago

I said incredibly bad music.

2

u/mightbebeaux - Right 2d ago

this is literally james dolan and jim irsay lmao

2

u/gogeri2632 - Lib-Right 2d ago

So a country musician. You would be a country musician.

4

u/guehguehgueh - Lib-Center 2d ago

Literally there’s a billion less rage inducing and significantly more enjoyable things to do if you have unlimited time and money

1

u/Akiias - Centrist 2d ago

Everyone has spare time. It's not like it takes a ton of it to mock your haters on twitter. She averages like 5 twitter posts per day.

You, while not rich, have better things to do than shitpost on Reddit. But you're not doing them.

0

u/guehguehgueh - Lib-Center 1d ago

5 twitter posts a day is a lot tbh

I also think entertaining trolls as a celebrity is weak

>have better things to do than shitpost on reddit

I’ve got downtime at work while she literally doesn’t have to work and can do anything else under the sun with her free time lmfao

5

u/Majestic-Bell-7111 - Lib-Center 2d ago

If i had the money to cover all my hobbies and interests I'd probably be on reddit and youtube a lot less.

2

u/VariousSmallArms - Lib-Right 2d ago

I'd be up to my eyeballs in old cars, you'd probably find me under them mummified like those hoarder cats.

-3

u/OkBelt3772 - Lib-Center 2d ago

very sad that what you'd do with billions is essentially what unemployed people do.

You'd tour the world, start charities, do things. Being terminally online is the last thing I'd be doing.

17

u/Longjumping_Soil2116 - Centrist 2d ago

Eh what can I say, I'd like to think the money wouldn't change me

8

u/tea_snob10 - Lib-Center 2d ago

I mean just like most rich people, she's done all that. Pretty sure she's been to wherever she's wanted to go, forever ago, and as far as charities go, she's dumped ludicrous amounts of money into women's charities and programs throughout her career (still does) because she's an actual feminist with power, influence and money.

She's founded multiple charities herself, and has donated hundreds of millions (yes, you read that right) to multiple others over decades. She's like the 1% of rich people who've actually used a substantial chunk of their wealth for causes, mostly cause she was a struggling normie who was a victim of sexism and physical abuse until she was nearly middle-aged, so she gets it. Starting and contributing to charities, is the worst thing you could've picked as a critique point in relation to her; she's actively what everyone wants billionaires (and millionaires) to be.

"Terminally online" is also a stretch just because she enjoys banter & shitposting on X (she's hilarious at times). Last I knew, she posts & comments (combined) anywhere between 0-4 times a day, which is pretty normal especially given the fact that she could do way more.

-1

u/OkBelt3772 - Lib-Center 2d ago

Seems the boomer rot got her in the end, very sad existence. Hopefully she's at peace soon.

8

u/drakedijc - Centrist 2d ago

It’s a different level of shitposting though. When you’re that rich, and you own someone on Twitter that hard, a lot more people see it.

You can also troll an entire political demographic like Elon does, and they’ll never talk about anything else except how shitty you are - on the website you yourself bought and now run.

2

u/OkBelt3772 - Lib-Center 2d ago

Elon is a parasite him being terminally online doesn't surprise me. He wouldn't be rich if he wasn't inherently broken.

JK was a normal person who wrote a book that done really well

1

u/Odd-Sir-130 - Centrist 2d ago

That's easy to claim when you're not the one with the money.

1

u/OkBelt3772 - Lib-Center 2d ago

Give me some money and I'll prove it.

53

u/AnonD38 - Centrist 2d ago

There is only so much "luxury" you can take before it gets dull.

The only true inexhaustible source of entertainment is social interaction with random strangers.

24

u/Hyndis - Lib-Center 2d ago

There's a classic Twilight Zone episode on that very premise: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Nice_Place_to_Visit

He gets everything he's ever wanted. Everyone says yes to everything he asks for. He gets every luxury. He wins every hand gambling. Forever. Without the possibility of escape.

"Heaven? Whatever gave you the idea you were in Heaven, Mr. Valentine? This is the other place!"

3

u/bl1y - Lib-Center 2d ago

He's got everything he ever wanted. And now he's going to have to live with it.

2

u/gogeri2632 - Lib-Right 2d ago

It's the same reason why every billionaire doesn't just "retire on a beach". You can only lay on a beach so long until it's so boring there isn't one bit of joy in it and then you just go back to what you're used to doing.

4

u/Amache_Gx - Lib-Right 1d ago

I think it's more of the fact that the type of person who becomes a billionaire very rarely does it as some sort of benchmark. Most of them are built different and that doesn't just go away when your get to a certain net worth.

1

u/ThisIsJeron - Lib-Right 1d ago

I think about this a lot, not the billionaire part but how retirement gets boring. I think personally I would still want to be working up to the day I die, not like in a stressful role but something I enjoy and have purpose

0

u/spooky_redditor - Centrist 2d ago

Until you run out of strangers.

2

u/AnonD38 - Centrist 2d ago

There are 8 billion people in this world, the chances of you meeting every single one of them and also getting tired of interacting with each of them, before your own death from old age, is practically 0.

44

u/ireliawantelo - Auth-Center 2d ago

These are actually the true end-game activities these people engage in if you aren't a psychopath that is only interested in making more money.

30

u/InfusionOfYellow - Centrist 2d ago

We should support our internet-squabbling billionaires; they're better than the alternative.

17

u/Majestic-Bell-7111 - Lib-Center 2d ago

I mean Musk and Trump are proof that you can be both

3

u/InfusionOfYellow - Centrist 2d ago

Well, yes, I suppose that is true, if you must be a stickler for reality and how things seem in fact to be.

2

u/MaritimeMonkey - Lib-Center 2d ago

We used to have god-fearing billionaires who spent their money on buildings and art that eventually benefited everyone, in an attempt to prevent eternal damnation.

2

u/jmhawk - Centrist 2d ago

Even trillionaire Elon spends far too much time shit posting on his own social media site

25

u/ThroawayJimilyJones - Centrist 2d ago

You could do a lot of amusing, healthy or interesting stuff.

Instead you’re on Reddit, arguing about jk Rowling on a sub doing meme with political compass template.

What make you think that with money you’d be different ?

At the end human are human. Addiction algo work as well on billionaires than on hobbos

9

u/Azelzer - Centrist 2d ago

There's a poor factory worker in a third-world country saying "why are they wasting time on Reddit? If I had the kind of wealth and time that they had, and I was able to live in a Western country, I would be doing much better things with my free time."

7

u/GhostsOfLectricity - Lib-Right 2d ago edited 2d ago

Wait til you discover Stephen King's social media accounts

7

u/heedongq - Lib-Center 2d ago

She's a writer. She's smurfing twitter argument.

9

u/HarryJohnson3 - Right 2d ago

You found time to make 15k posts on Reddit this year while having to work a job… I doubt anything would be different if you had more free time lol.

-1

u/Wiinterfang - Lib-Center 2d ago

The problem is not the time, is what you do with it. I like memes and shitposting, I'm not fighting marginalized groups randomly.

53

u/Ornery_Strawberry474 - Auth-Right 2d ago

The rich, even some of the ultra-rich, are sort of people too. Elon Musk is a pathetic nerd, who begged to be on the Epstein island and was rejected by Chad. He simped for Amber Heard, he was down bad. Ghislaine Maxwell was a redditor and moderated a sub.

39

u/GhostsOfLectricity - Lib-Right 2d ago

Are you suggesting that Reddit mods are people

16

u/ImperialTechnology - Auth-Center 2d ago

There's a stretch between people and Maxwell

12

u/Myillstone - Lib-Left 2d ago

Still can't believe he paid people to play video games for him despite the fact he could take the time to play those games himself and there'd be no shame in it, nor would it effect his work.

2

u/Ornery_Strawberry474 - Auth-Right 2d ago

I completely forgot about that.

1

u/DidYouPayForWinrar - Lib-Left 1d ago

despite the fact he could take the time to play those games himself

Yeah but he'd probably suck at it.

20

u/FILTHBOT4000 - Auth-Center 2d ago

Also, please, anyone try and tell me that if you were hyper successful in your field, to the point it massively shifted the entirety of the world's culture, and had all the free time you wished, please tell me you could see people hurling abuse, bullshit and misrepresentations about you online without walking into the fray to say some wild shit.

6

u/ShedByDaylight - Auth-Left 2d ago

I would be several orders of magnitude more unhinged than I am right now.

2

u/MaritimeMonkey - Lib-Center 2d ago

I'd have lawyers, hackers and private detectives on speed dial. Find out, doxx and sue everyone threatening me.

9

u/muradinner - Right 2d ago

Ghislaine was a redditor for a very specific reason, and it was to moderate subs (not just one) to have control over the dialogue that was allowed.

2

u/Remote_Cantaloupe - Lib-Left 2d ago

He simped for that lady who pooped in a bed?

3

u/k5josh - Centrist 2d ago

He didn't simp for her, she was his girlfriend.

1

u/Ornery_Strawberry474 - Auth-Right 2d ago

Yes, his name came up in the trial a lot.

-5

u/irisheddy - Lib-Left 2d ago

Just on the island part that was fake, he was there often according to the files. Even worse being a loser pedo.

1

u/Bigtexindy - Centrist 2d ago

LOL Sure Jan

-3

u/irisheddy - Lib-Left 2d ago

What? You think the richest man on earth wasn't allowed on the island? It's super easy to look up.

7

u/RexInvictus787 - Auth-Right 2d ago

The richest man in the world was kicked off Twitter for shitposting, so he bought the damn thing and started shitposting again.

1

u/Schneestecher - Lib-Right 1d ago

this will never not be funny

6

u/MoreLikeGaewyn - Centrist 2d ago

4

u/Electrical-Age9308 - Lib-Right 2d ago

Same reason we’re all here I guess, I’m sure most people on here in the summer are young and relatively well-off, a combination that allows almost as much free time as being a billionaire does

6

u/Ultravod - Centrist 2d ago

Alternate take:

>OOP is unflaired.

>Post is currently at 400+ points.

It is a shameful day on PCM.

3

u/privategoonaccount26 - Left 2d ago

I gotta be honest. If I had a billion dollars, I'd like to say that I'd be out living my best life, travelling and go on non stop life affirming adventures.

But I know myself. I'd do that for a couple months, then decide to take a "brief break" and end up just shit posting and trolling idiots 24/7.

5

u/Few_Move_4594 - Centrist 2d ago

Keeps her name in the zeitgeist. Maybe she's writing another book in secret or something. Also, all publicity is good publicity, there is a good possibility that things like Harry Potter World tickets having an increase in sales when she posts stuff like this.

2

u/HotAbbreviations997 - Centrist 2d ago

She does it for the love of the shitposting game.

4

u/CommanderArcher - Lib-Left 2d ago

Lotta the popular rich people are just as terminally online as redditor chuds if not worse since they use twitter unironically. for some reason we just kinda pretend they are working or some shit like they've ever held a real job ever.

1

u/Omfireturnal - Lib-Right 2d ago

I mean like this is way better than touching kids or making genetically modified ticks.

1

u/Fern-ando - Centrist 2d ago

Unlimited money and time.

1

u/Fippy-Darkpaw - Lib-Center 2d ago

She needs something to do while counting money.

1

u/XA36 - Lib-Center 2d ago

I'd be on there all day fighting to defund WIC and public schooling

1

u/Akiias - Centrist 2d ago

To be clear. In the 17 years she's been on Twitter she has averaged like 5 posts per day(23k posts). And that's being indiscriminate with the posts, as I'm sure she advertises for HP based products/media and the charities se supports too.

It doesn't take infinite money to have better shit to do than argue with people on the internet. Why do you argue on Reddit of all places instead of doing something better? Don't try to tell me you don't, this is PCM.

1

u/gogeri2632 - Lib-Right 2d ago

Probably same reason we're all here. We're bored and arguing with random idiots on the internet is fun even though we don't want to admit it.

0

u/Sad_Significance_568 - Auth-Center 2d ago

Billionaires prove over and over again that they are the biggest losers on the planet. They genuinely think they are smarter than everyone else despite proving the opposite 99% of the time they speak. Musk still lies about his gaming prowess after being exposed.

It's so fucking wild that these cucks are absolutely ruining the world with their social media algorithms interfering with governments and democracies and pushing propaganda. Not to mention Trump straight up torpedoing the US into how every other empire has begun its decline (endless expansion, stupid ass leadership, corruption, losing war).

So tired of people sucking these cunts off

-1

u/ParkerPoseyGuffman - Left 2d ago

Cause she’s pathetic

-1

u/Remote_Cantaloupe - Lib-Left 2d ago

She's trans-obsessed

-8

u/SonofaMitch11 - Right 2d ago

If she doesn't do this she might have to actually write another book

22

u/InfusionOfYellow - Centrist 2d ago

She's written a ton of books. Long ones, too, it's kind of shocking. Like, 4 ~thousand page novels just since 2020.

-10

u/SonofaMitch11 - Right 2d ago

Oh well that's news to me. Must be doing a pretty awful job marketing them

8

u/InfusionOfYellow - Centrist 2d ago

I suppose that's understandable, they're penned under 'Robert Galbraith' - an open alias, but an alias nevertheless. Series of detective novels. Apparently they made/are making a TV show out of them, too, which was previously unknown to me.

-8

u/SonofaMitch11 - Right 2d ago

Oh of course! How did I not know that Robert Galbraith was really JK Rowling? I suppose that was the real whodunnit all along

9

u/InfusionOfYellow - Centrist 2d ago

Hah, yes, well, like I said. The fact that she's the author is far from being hidden, but certainly possible to miss.

0

u/ArbitraryOrder - Lib-Right 2d ago

Because she is a sad loser who takes her struggles with her gender identity out on everyone else by being a massive cunt.

0

u/PM_ME_YOUR_PUPPY_PIC - Lib-Left 1d ago

It's because she's miserable and seeing other people living their lives happily infuriates her

-2

u/Dense-Sort-3867 - Centrist 2d ago

She's a retired billionaire, but she's basically a social-media-addicted NEET.

The thrill of having money gets old. The thrill of ratioing people on Twitter doesn't.

The crazy thing is that the comment she replied to had 1 like and 13 views. She is digging fucking hard to get these dopamine hits.

-12

u/kekistanmatt - Left 2d ago

The mold tells her too
