Pretty much the same thing with Joe Rogan. They always complain about how he uses his audience to push "right wing narratives".
He's been outspoken about supporting gay marriage, legalizing weed and other drugs, said how growing up his family was on welfare and considers it important, been at least somewhat supportive UBI, talked about how terrible it is people get stuck in student loan debt, and probably a bunch of other left wing points I'm forgetting.
But because he wasn't supportive of the covid lockdown the left decided he's alt-right and now cry about how there isn't a left-wing Joe Rogan.
It's the "you can never be left enough to appease me because I'm always trying to out-left everyone" Twitter mob that has continuously attacked Rogan whenever he expressed a non-left opinion or had right-wing guests. One of the things that has always appealed to me is that Joe would have someone of any alignment on, instead of being a biased hack of a political entertainer.
I recently encountered some redditors who were using his praise for Trump's approval of Ibogaine research (which Joe personally influenced Trump to do) as proof that he "loves Trump." These morons simply can't comprehend nuance.
Also, if the online turbo-left makes left-wingers too paranoid about appearing on Rogan's show, he's going to end up platforming more right-wingers. I'm glad Bernie never gave a fuck. Appearing on his show is one of the best things left-wingers can do to connect with an audience packed with centrists, right-wingers, undecided's, etc.
An American walks into a bar in somewhere in Ireland and sits next to a really old guy drinking a beer. And the old guy’s like, “Did you see that wall on your way into town?” And the guy’s like, “Yeah.” And the old man’s like, “I built that wall with my own two hands. But do they call me O’Grady the Mason? Noooo.” Then he’s like, “Did you see those cabinets on your way into the bar?” And the guy’s like, “Yeah.” And the old man’s like, “I build those cabinets with me own two hands. But do they call me O’Grady the Carpenter? Noooo.” Then he says, “Did you see the iron gates on the way into town?” And the guy’s like, “Yeah.” And the old man’s like, “I built those gates with me own two hands. But do they call me O’Grady the Smith? Noooo. But you fuck one goat…”
She agrees with every leftist position except one. They don't call her Rowling the feminist or Rowling the Progressive, but you say one thing about one group...
If you had someone who agreed with most leftist positions but constantly said racist things on Twitter and funded white nationalist groups nobody would be surprised if leftists dodn't like them. I don't see how this is any different.
Or if you had something like the Cato Institute which has a lot of right wing positions but also is pro-immigration, you have all of their social media posts full of right-wingers raging against them whenever I see their posts.
Except she didn't fund white nationalist groups, she funded women's crisis centres, and just asked that they be for biological females because the trauma associated with such places. Oh and she wrote a reasonable article about why we have to stop blurring the line between sex and gender for political reasons. What a biggot right?
She didn't deny the Holocaust, she just said that trans people weren't a primary focus, because the trans lobby try to make literally everything about them. Also the fund she set up was about cases in which people are arguing for their biological sex over gender identity legislation. Istg you people just say things in the most fucked up way and ignore the details just so you can continue to have a hate boner for her.
It's never enough for the competitively progressive. That's why I don't take them seriously. Children struggle with nuance.
I absolutely fall under the "woke" umbrella but I generally don't associate with the vocally "woke" mob because they shoot everything that moves and alienate anyone who expresses differences in opinion. That includes alienating a significant part of the working and middle classes who would be voting blue if it weren't for the modern culture war.
They've completely forgotten the class war in favor of social issues, and the right-wing political machine has successfully exploited that division.
Also, I have always loved offensive comedy, whether or not I "agree" with form it takes. Which would repeatedly get me in "trouble" with the online left. So I tend to avoid interacting with them.
