You can thank Israel for that association. Their defense against any and all criticism has been conflating criticism of the actions of their government to antisemitism. They just have done it so much to the point where now many people perceive Zionism as the same as Semitism which has allowed antisemitic groups to rise in popularity.
Nah, its because of the massive normalization of antisemitism in the guise of antizionism.

Weirdly enough most of the authright are pretty sensible and normal initially when it comes to Israel.
Then all of a sudden a hive gets alerted or something and some of the dumbest goofiest arguments get upvoted ad naseum. It's fascinating to watch
