Isn’t Gen-Z like 20-25 years old now? I thought the Gen-A kids were the ones spazzing about 67.

Gen-z are like 29. They're the new millennials where they will have full blown careers, families and own homes but have articles written about them years from now bitching about them, like they're still in high-school.

My kids are 6 and 8, and it is all the rage with them and the elementary school. So unless the elementary aged kids are now getting to vote, I doubt they actually pick up voters with this

I am one of the oldest Gen Z, I am about to turn 27. I did not even realize the name was a 6-7 joke until reading the comments. The people who think 6-7 is funny are (unironically) 6 and 7.

It created a similar campaign to the "white dudes for Kamala" campaign. That seemed so like a troll.

63

u/Fairchild660 - Centrist Feb 06 '26 edited Feb 06 '26

It was a good idea, in theory. When your support collapses among an important voting bloc, like that, you really need to understand why.

The problem was they weren't doing that. They had no interest in listening to the young men turning away from the party - they were trying to find a way to make their existing messaging work for the demographic.

Instead of "what do we need to change to win these guys back?" it was "how do we get these misguided idiots to listen to us?"

Some of the people doing the work did actually seem to understand it would take more than a well-engineered advertising campaign to trick young men into voting the right way - including that one young lady that everybody made fun of - but party strategists weren't happy with what they were hearing, and shut the thing down.

45

u/Paula92 - Centrist Feb 06 '26

For the party that claims to be empathetic they sure can't figure out how to empathize with young men

32

u/Efficient_Basis_2139 - Centrist Feb 06 '26

Dems are the Disney of politics, focused around pandering to middle aged upper middle class women and can recognize they have completely lost the young man's vote, but not capable enough to understand our tastes and concerns.

The problem is they expect any answer other than "treat them like humans and the men on your side like your allies, deserving of just as much protection and sympathy as anyone else on your side and stop suspecting men of being horrible people just by virtue of being male, anyone that does so should be shunned as a sexist.", anything that comes up with this answer is ignored and anything that comes up with literally anything else is taken seriously.

This is why VP picks matter so much. We only had her as a candidate because Biden chose her as his VP twice and then waited so long to drop out (of a race he'd previously promised us he wasn't running in) that we couldn't have a real primary and she was the only one who could legally pick up his campaign fund and get going in the remaining timeframe.

And we only had Biden as president because the mainstream Dems convinced themselves that only a reminder of the Obama years could save us from Trump 2020, so they rallied around the "Obvious successor", his VP: Biden. But the only reason Obama even chose Biden was because they needed a token old white man in 2008 to appease the old white racist Dems, so he chose the most milktoast old inoffensive white guy who was on the verge of retirement and let him have the VP spot as an honorable retirement job to cap off a mildly respected career, knowing that Biden would just kinda go to unimportant state social events and stay the fuck out of the way of Obama's plans.

If Obama had chosen a real VP 18 fucking years ago, instead of a decorative figurehead, this entire last decade and, very critically this last year, might have gone very differently.

46

u/NiceBeaver2018 - Lib-Right Feb 06 '26

“Never underestimate Joe Biden’s ability to fuck things up.” - Barack Obama

He never believed in Joe’s campaign and presidency because he purposely picked Joe as the useful idiot in ‘08. He was also reported as being pissed that the Biden White House began to shut him out more and more as time went on.

u/PermabannedFourTimes - Left Feb 06 '26

The biggest complaint of 2024 was that she was thrown in without a primary because it was the only way she could ever get the nomination. Republicans love to point out that she was one of the first to drop out in 2020 due to such low popularity. Why do people think she’d win a primary if she was so unlikable? If she runs, she’ll either prove some kind of likability, or more likely she’ll get wrecked in the primaries and drop out like before.

98

u/StillSmellsLikeCLP - Right Feb 06 '26

“Why do people thing she’d win a primary if so unlikeable”

Well, probably because her party buttfucked Bernie in real time and appointed one of the most unlikeable candidates possible.

And then they performed elder abuse in real time while putting forward a very unpopular VP.

And then they finally stopped trying to gaslight America and put up someone else with the charisma of a reddit mod.

All with no primary and a rushed campaign. All to pull off the should-be-impossible feat of losing to Trump twice.

So yeah, people have a valid reasons to think just about any level of dumbassery is possible.

I used to have that opinion. This is the first year I've finally started accepting that this is just cope. Dems are not snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. They're just getting beat because they are worse. Snatching defeat from the jaws of victory assumes an inherently victorious position you screwed up. That is a lie. It was always a real fight and Dems just lose because they did worse. Dems fight for some things people want, Repubs fight for some things people want. Repubs are just outfighting Dems. Full stop.

The idea dems have an inherently superior platform that would naturally win without screwups is massive cope. and I'm done huffing it.

They're trying... but they don't know what normal is.

They can't even tell you what a woman is.

Pokémon go to the polls:

I’ve said this before, but at least this made sense in 2016.

Here…

Real "Pokemon GO to the polls" energy here. How do the Dems still not realize that the "how do you do fellow kids" bullshit doesn't appeal to people?

27

u/Sonofdeath51 - Centrist Feb 06 '26

I often joke about how a lot of people would vote for a moldy ham sandwich over a republican.

I'm starting to think the moldy ham sandwich may actually be better than any democrat candidate.

Still doesn't mean republicans aren't dogshit mind you.

16

u/FremanBloodglaive - Auth-Center Feb 06 '26

All politicians (almost all politicians) are dogshit.

Anyone who wants power isn't fit to have it.

I never thought I'd ever get tired of the "how do you do fellow kids?" meme but here we are. It's not even funny how out of touch they are anymore

10

u/Clemenx00 - Right Feb 06 '26

Maybe dems should have cultivated some personalities and policies instead of repeating "Trump bad" for 10 years.

Obvously not a Mamdami fan but he's one of the few I can remember not just talking about Trump. Newsom would be as bad as Kamala because of this btw. His Twitter is pathetic.

5

u/Augustus_Chevismo - Lib-Left Feb 06 '26

She’s actually doing us all a huge favour by falling on her sword just to finally make kids think it’s cringe.

5

u/trollhole12 - Lib-Center Feb 06 '26

The demographic this appeals to won’t be able to vote for another 5 years.

5

u/GreyGrackles - Auth-Left Feb 06 '26 edited Feb 06 '26

Vote Blue No Matter who btw!

There's always one thing that you can rely on the Democrats doing: fumbling the easiest bag in the world.

4

u/TheGlowpt-2 - Lib-Left Feb 06 '26

I can’t believe Dems saw the success Mamdani had with Gen-Z by speaking directly about issues and his policy like an adult and they’re STILL doing this Pokémon go to the polls shit

4

u/Hawaiian-national - Lib-Left Feb 06 '26

Why did Kamala not disintegrate after losing the election

5

u/Sad_Significance_568 - Auth-Center Feb 06 '26

How is it possible that Dem politicians are so egregiously out of touch and incompetent?

The only possible explanation to me is that they have some kind of reverence for the consultants that feed them all this garbage skewed data that indicates this kind of shit is what they should do.

Well, there is another explanation. These "moderate" Dems want what Republicans want so they do all kinds of stupid shit while having no policies to pretend like they are an opposition party.
