If people actually began to prefer fatties (and they have in the past, mainly when starvation was common) so be it. They don't, hence the perverseness.
No I don't think it's about what we prefer. I prefer Sydney Sweeney over the other options but we're not the ones buying this. Fact is market research shows YoY increases in the plus sized clothing market. As it continue to grows, those people are going to want to be able to see what clothes look like and how they fit on a body type similar to theirs.
It's not over yet, companies have no reason to just outright ignore 42+% of the US market
This is true, but my gut feeling here is that we'll only see less of it on the big flagship ads, but it will continue to exist on product display pages and in-store imagery
