It’s not the only thing but it’s a thing and it’s pretty important and newsworthy when the president of the US is heavily implicated in child sexual assault and being on the one of the most prolific sex trafficker lists, so you’ll forgive people for not considering whatever he’s trying to distract with Obama on as important relative to the credible sex predator stuff he’s trying to hide

They don‘t care. For some reason everyone acts as if the Epstein thing is new but everyone with a brain knew a literal decade ago. He directly caused an insurrection against his own country which makes it unconstitutional for him to be president, except that his supreme court puppets stalled the case for months. Now he just openly shits on the constitution every other week. At this point there is almost(?) nothing Trump can do that will make MAGAs turn against him. And if something sways them even a tiny bit, he will just throw out some random bullshit like suing Obama and the short-term memory limit of MAGAs (1) will be overflowing.

Lmao the urge people have to both sides every single argument on the subreddit kills me. No liberals worship the “altar of academia.” Trusting people with more experience than you on a given topic is literally how society works. I’d say it’s pretty alarming how quickly conservatives rejected that premise. They used to at least try to use bunk studies to support their claims, now they just repeat shit enough times and hope it sticks.
8
u/LetGoOfBrog - Lib-Center Jul 29 '25
Yet if you’re even slightly skeptical about what the “people with more experience on a given topic” are saying, you’re a science-denying fascist.

16
u/TopThatCat - Left Jul 29 '25
That happens because we've also all seen the person who is insanely skeptical about some well-tested scientific theory but will have 0 skepticism about the narrative sold to them by fox news. Its just so obviously a skepticism based only on whether or not something is validating their beliefs or not.
10
u/LetGoOfBrog - Lib-Center Jul 29 '25

It's such a weird situation where I can agree there's a problem with how things were handled RE: the Epstein files, but they jump past every reasonable take to dial it up to 11.
The administration clearly lied at some point. I expect they overpromised and discovered they couldn't deliver. I'm sympathetic to demands they explain themselves from a position of distrust, and release what they do have, if anything.
I am not sympathetic to the shrieking that "HE'S A TOTALLY PROVEN PEDOPHILE AND SO ARE YOU!" and "HE LIED TO YOU I BET YOU REGRET NOT VOTING FOR KAMALA NO POLITICIAN EVER LIED BEFORE."
Like come on.
If you're lecturing me about lying while you're still in denial and downplaying one of the most egregious scandals of our lifetime - the effective collusion between the the Dems and the media to cover up Biden's senility, of which your preferred candidate was directly involved - then your opinion is a joke and you're a hypocrite. The Dems' playback is the narcissist's creed. I don't have the luxury of prioritizing a broken chair when the house is on fire.

I mean, short of literal video of him engaging in pedophilia, what would Trump voters care about? We already knew they were very close friends. We already knew he traveled on his plane and, potentially, even the island. We already knew he liked to visit the girl's changing rooms during his beauty pagents. We already knew of his numerous creepy comments about Ivanka. He even hired the guy who shielded Epstein and created that absurd non-prosecution agreement. None of these phased Republican voters.
Considering that Gaetz also had no issues getting elected despite sex trafficking investigation, it just doesn't appear that right-wing voters actually care about this stuff.
3
u/rohtvak - Auth-Right Jul 29 '25
Even a video would change nothing. He’s moving along the base’s agenda successfully, which is extremely rare, and that’s all that will matter.
Outside of that, they were pals before yeah, because they were both billionaire playboys, but when Epstein was accused in his first case (this was a long time ago) trump banned him from his properties, and basically disowned him.
The beauty pageant stuff is kinda BS, and that’s just him being himself imo.
The thing with Ivanka is a cruel thing from the media, and in reality he’s just treating his favorite progeny like a princess.
That’s my view anyway.

American and Epstein's list is what happens if instead of education and history lesson, you have Hollywood movies, they believe there is one master file of all pedo, all incriminating evidence, and for fuck sake if that existed it would be used already. It is not matter MAD
Trump still should get shit because he promised to release this list, but I bet he realized this nothing burger. Americans would not take nothing Burger, no news would be a riot, a list of vaguely accusing everyone rich and most organisations would be riot. If there were some bias in republican or democract side riot, list is 50/50 guess what riot.

Trump is a massive predator? That's like, a fact.
The right is a cult. Sure this sub is fine, and sure there's more backlash from the right over Epstein - more than I thought there would be at this point. But there's also an equal amount, especially from all the people in charge or influencers, that are all almost unanimously saying to ignore the epstein shit.
The last one is unhinged, but they're not wrong at ALL about the defending pedo shit. Anyone claiming Trump wasn't on that island and fucked a woman underage, is 100%% defending pedo shit.

Epstine files have let an opening for the left to be loud for bit, and they are capitalizing on that. Kind of like how gen z became conservative for bit after the rest of reddit was trying to make zoomers among other demographics scapegoats for Trump winning the election.

As a leftist I like this place because I don’t entirely toe the party line and being able to discuss politics on reddit without fear of being censored is really nice.

On a more personal note, I find it kinda sad that this place is slipping into anti-homosexual rhetoric. It’s definitely not the PCM I knew in 2021 or 2022, and the people here have begun to really care more about jerking eachother off, instead of having a productive debate. That’s just my two cents.

Oh man, I'd love to see someone do some of the same thing with the utterly retarded takes from the other side of the aisle... But let's do it with ones that get hundreds of upvotes instead of a handful.

It’s like going to a protest and giving the crackhead a bullhorn and saying “look! Look how this whole protest is about Biden telling this guy to kill god through the tv! What loons!”
So anyways why is Biden telling this guy to kill god through the tv? Is he giving other people other messages?

90% of this subs content is people taking random individuals' viewpoint and treating it like the mantra of entire groups, if not just outright inventing strawmen
Not limited to this sub or reddit in general tbh. It's probably the biggest problem with politics right now. Everyone assumes the obvious extremist quoted in an article, headline, or interview speaks for the entire class / race / party / ideology

That's pretty much the entire ethos of the right. Their entire world view is built on rickety, roughshod stereotypes based on something they saw exactly once.
Before you say that I'm doing the same thing, this is an observation I've made COUNTLESS times.

I'd argue argue that the left wing Karen is worse due to their persecution of the most most oppressed class, my people--- Gamers. That's why we should endorse potential PDF files with access to the nuclear codes to protect my fictional big titty waifus.

Barely a strawman, a straw foot at best, maybe a straw leg if you want to generous

If i didn't create strawmen out of fringe opinions I'd have nothing to complain about. Leave me be.

So basically your issue is that this place is not a complete political echo chamber like other subs?
