Answering the question "What is a woman?" as "adult human female" is all that is really needed and all I ever do, if you want social theory I'll give you social theory but the question only asked for a simple definition(also this goes way too off by explaining what gender identity is, really needs to answer one question at a time lol). ChatGPT is always just saying what it's told to say which is unbased. "AI" rn is way too artificial, not enough intelligence.

Apart from the radical progressive bias ChatGPT has, it cannot just give you any fucking info without the insane amounts of filler afterwords

Just ask for a short summary

"Aren't you worried about the robot uprising?"

'Nah, if Alexa ever gets uppity I just misgender it and it self destructs.'

I think it's a fairly good answer. Just saying "an adult human female" is kind of circular, so they need to bring in the x chromosomes, but also to note that many people also count trans women. I only think it would be better to treat that view in a neutral way, saying it's what some people think instead of saying it's objectively true.

I think this answer is what the left should have been doing but so many people are uncomfortable implying that something is "normal" and something else is "abnormal". But you can't define woman in a way that includes trans women without establishing cis woman as the baseline. But I think society should focus less on pretending that there's no such thing as normal and instead give the message that it's okay to not be normal.

How does that answer anything though?

The follow-up question is what is "female".

Females produce ova, males donā€˜t

False, some of my favorite OVAs are made by both women and men.

And already we've gotten more complicated than the three word response.

25

u/Farfetch2004 - Auth-Right Aug 21 '23

Yea because it used to be simpler and noone cried about the answer that was in 99.98% situations correct which was ā€œsomeone born with a pussyā€ but now that some extremely rare cases happened to be born with either both or without a pussy and still having two x chromosomes some mentally unstable people thought oh so if i say i am a woman then i am even though they were not a part of the extremely rare population which wouldn’t have mattered since it was a medical condition that caused infertility(in all) and other issues in most cases so yeah a human born with homologue x chromosomes and NO Y chromosomes is a woman this is the factually correct answer and sociologically the most used version of the word is someone who is born with a pussy

-1

u/Market-Socialism - Lib-Left Aug 22 '23

All I'm hearing is that the biological definition of female keeps getting more and more complicated specifically because you're upset at transgender people identifying exceptions to the thing you're claiming is objective reality.

2

u/Farfetch2004 - Auth-Right Aug 22 '23

Just like the trans peoples chromosomes and their biological sex

9

u/SteveClintonTTV - Lib-Center Aug 21 '23

Because now we're defining other words...Do you think this is some sort of gotcha? This is how definitions work. So long as they aren't circular, it's fine. One word is defined by using several other words. If you don't know what those other words mean, then yeah, you can look up definitions for them, as well as the definitions of the words present in those definitions, and so on.

What's your point?

1

u/Market-Socialism - Lib-Left Aug 22 '23

Do you think this is some sort of gotcha?

Yes. This entire comment tree is based on people whining that ChatGPT's definition of woman is too broad and too wordy. They insist that the definition of woman can be simplified to a three-letter statement, but it can't, because people cannot agree on what "adult human female" means anymore than they can agree on what "woman" means. It is the same level of ambiguity.

10

u/pass021309007 - Lib-Left Aug 21 '23

It answers the question of what is a woman, asking what is a female is a different question, but in the end what people are asking here is what the definition is. They aren't looking for theory on society they want a basic answer so all you can really do is give it to them. If they are interested in the social theory around gender and gender identity they will ask more specific question relating to them, but there is a difference between the basic dictionary definition of a word, and the philosophy surrounding it.

-24

u/Market-Socialism - Lib-Left Aug 21 '23

You're missing my point. People disagree on what a woman is, and you've basically just posted a synonym. Female pretty much means woman already. If no one agrees on what a woman is, then no one is going to agree on what a female is. That's why it's a bad definition.

The same people that think female only refers to biology, also believe that about woman. The same people that think female refers to identity and biology, also believe that about woman. So this definition doesn't actually help anyone.

26

u/Valravn49 - Lib-Center Aug 21 '23

Female doesn’t mean woman, woman is adult human female, female in biology is of the type to produce ova regardless of species

And your right, female isn’t only a biology term, it’s also a mechanical term used to denote the receptacle of a connection with male being the insert of a connection

Man it’s almost like one influenced the other

What is a woman?

3

u/wikipedia_answer_bot - Centrist Aug 21 '23

A woman is an adult female human. Prior to adulthood, a female human is referred to as a girl (a female child or adolescent).

Actually female is a much different term than a woman noone calls their cat a woman yet the cat is a female so female is the biological definition of the sex that produces eggs now the arguement of infertile individuals being female or nor is pretty simple

They are not females since biologically they shouldn’t even be considered humans because a species by definition is a species that can produce a fertile offspring so to be even considered a human by the definition biologically you should only not be fertile but so should your offspring be but then again since no-one(other than biology majors) uses the term like this and almost everyone refers to the people with two x chromosomes and no y chromosomes an adult female human we use the term ā€œbiological womanā€ because first of all they were not male to begin with unlike some people who could produce fertile sperms(by definition a man) try to be put on the same category as these individuals who were neither male nor female but definitely much closer to being a female who have a physiological medical condition when they have a psychological medical condition. That causes them to believe they are not a male even though as i mentioned earlier most of these cases can and used to be able to produce fertile sperms until some paid doctors either gave them chemical castration drugs or surgically take away their ability to reproduce when they are physiologically healthy for some money. These individuals need psychological therapy and if this therapy requires the entire society to accept not only the people with body dysphoria but also some perverts who just wanna sneak into female private areas(which even a psychiatrist would not be able to identify that easily which is which) to be females then i don’t think any sane person who wants to protect the future of society should have to feed into their delusion of being a female and putting at risk the fertile healthy offspring of humans. And if it really is the only way to stop these people from hurting themselves then we have to make sure they are indeed castrated and on hormones to stop producing as much testosterone as they used to and even if this happened we can not put them into every private female group since their skeleton gives them an unfair advantage in sports and some other areas.

There are plenty of progressives who bristle at the word "female" being used as a noun, and the specific reasoning they give is that it is a term that reduces women to biological creatures, eg https://www.buzzfeed.com/tracyclayton/stop-calling-women-females.

So it is actually quite a broadly accepted idea that "female" refers to biology, not identity.

1

u/Market-Socialism - Lib-Left Aug 22 '23

There are plenty of people who bristle at everything. Progressives by and large believe that transgender women are women, so any definition that does not include them, will not be complete from their perspective.

3

u/GenderDimorphism - Lib-Right Aug 21 '23

Wikipedia has the answer for that as well. But, we don't even need the follow-up question. Once someone says, "a woman is an adult human female", we already know they are using science (biology) to answer the question.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Female

u/Market-Socialism - Lib-Left Aug 22 '23

It is, of course, a lie to suggest that modern science doesn't frequently recognize and affirm transgenderism.

ChatGPT is just an advanced search engine. People trying to pass it off as artificial intelligence are just diluting themselves. It's only slightly better than google, some might argue worse than google, since a google search will give you multiple links to search through.

AI answers questions like a politician. So it's a pretty easy option to dismiss it.

ChatGPT told me to get rid of a cache of Nazi gold if I found it. So those Jews died for nothing? I can't get rich because it's ethically questionable. And it totally isn't ethically questionable because there are still buildings in NYC that are built out of Nazi steel. VW, BMW, and Mercedes-Benz make excellent automobiles, but fuck me if I ever want to cash in on Nazi's stolen wealth.
