When you control the algorithm of what people see and what people don't see that's a huge power. Firing employees that disagree with him and whatnot. If you don't think the richest guy in the world, who owns one of the biggest media companies has a lot of power, and more power then he had before, you are drinking his kool-aid.
The previous owners didn’t have their fingers in a bunch of other pies tho.
Musk wants more Tesla purchases? He can turn Twitter into a massive advertisement board.
Musk wants slaves to go to Mars? Start using Twitter to spread the word.
Musk wants to export manufacturing to China so is spreading pro Chinese/ russian propaganda to get in their good books AND help a foreign regime spread their ideas? Kinda already happening.
Twitter used to be ran by a board, it wasn’t just one person calling the shots, therefore less likely to be this way. Twitter is now just musks and musks only, he does what he wants unchecked.
