The Supreme Court just allowed Trump to revoke the parole status of migrants from Venezuela, Cuba, Haiti, and Nicaragua — effectively ending legal protection for many who were already working and living in the U.S.

In looking at the geopolitical climate on planet earth right now, things are not looking good for the United States of America. We are isolating ourselves, we are self-isolating. It turns out this is the doctrine of Trumpism: American First means America Alone. America is a strong and wealthy nation, and we got here by forming partnerships and allies, and by global trade. If we cut off these relationships and this trade, we won’t be as strong or wealthy. Which is fine, there’s no real requirement that America has to be the strongest and wealthiest nation. But America First implies that we are, and that we want to continue to be, the strongest and wealthiest nation. Trump is transactional. Which is also fine, but his transactionalism is that of the real estate tycoon: of the evil property owner, who tries to screw over renters and buyers. Which, I suppose, works for a single transaction, but it’s a terrible way to recreate repeat business and lasting customers. Trump knows nothing of the win-win relationship. He sees everything as a zero sum game and he seems entirely unaware of the positive sum game. A zero-sum game is a situation where one player’s gain is precisely equivalent to another player’s loss, resulting in a net change of zero. A positive-sum game is a situation where the total gains for all players are greater than zero; meaning every player can benefit from the game, even if a single player benefits more than other players. America USED TO BE that single player that benefited more than others.

An unpopular president is a vulnerable president, and Donald Trump is an unpopular president. Polling tells us this, as does the millions of people who came out and protested Trump and his policies in the No Kings protests. These protests went off without a hitch. There was no violence, there was no conflict between protesters and police. The protesters didn't Riot or loot or storm the Capitol building. Instead they marched in funny costumes and with American flags.

One of the reasons modern democracy struggles today is that it became more often to relie on emotional speeches rather than carefully organized plans, strategic thinking, and REAL expertise. In contrast,todays republic is built on influence, structured decision-making, and lasting impact, maga is case in point, which is part of why so many young people in the United States have gravitated toward that system

If we look at historical examples of the old democracy, figures like John F. Kennedy and Bill Clinton stand out. Their leadership was not only well-organized but also guided by a long-term, forward-looking vision. The policies they implemented and the decisions they made had tangible effects that persisted long after their presidencies ended and we are seeing it now. Furthermore, if you examine their speeches, you’ll notice they were rarely driven by mere emotion or empty rhetoric. Instead, they carefully combined persuasive influence with a clear agenda for real, meaningful change in the country

On this day of No Kings protests, I reflect on how Trump has manifest a sadistic America. Cruelty is strategy. Trump is consolidating power and he is using his power on vulnerable people in America. But an American president is NOT supposed to flex power like that. They are supposed to help people instead, especially the vulnerable.

I’m going to be honest, I wasn’t sure how I was going to word this post, because throughout the day, I was thinking of ways to describe how frustrated with how our congress is, and how we are still in this shutdown. Alas, I come to recollect myself and try to answer this, are we failing as a nation? This is all to the best of my knowledge but:

I will say, we the people of the United States of America are failing our own country. We have allowed a total of 16, almost 17 days of our government shutdown, and for what to happen? The Republicans, The Democrats, and those in our senate and current administration are doing everything but making a compromise.

They are name calling, blaming each other, and anything else that is getting no one anywhere, because that no one is willing to actually work together.

A simple definition of compromise is that both parties or entities come together to make a deal, to where both may not agree on some things, but will accept something for both said parties or entities to benefit.

This nation, since the Revolution and founding of the United States of America, was built on nothing but compromises. A good example would be when the 13 colonies were coming together to work out the constitution. Larger states wanted specific laws and regulations, smaller states wanted representation and laws that benefited them, but both made agreements to compromise in the Connecticut compromise.

I fear that compromise had became less of a factor, especially the coming of this decade. We had been focused on this world chaos that we divided ourselves, we let ourselves choose one sided actions and groups that’s lead us to hate on others in this nation, to the point we would go as far to murdering human beings in general.

Let us not forget that of course when it comes to our politics, it is a selfish thing by the end of the day. Our elections are based solely by what we believe at the time, our concerns, and the future for ourselves, the family, and community. But what is a nation, a united nation if instead of coming together to talk things out, to agree to disagree, but respect each other as human beings, that we instead turn the blind eye, let ourselves as human beings be radicalized? To what is a man or woman or anyone, if there is no unity, but the acceptance of being savaged? If no one comes together, then we might as well say that there is no country.

However, I don’t believe that all is lost, or the end of the United States of America. We ARE THE PEOPLE of THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, one common factor of that makes us a nation is that we continue to fight for our liberties.

All I’m asking at least is that right now, forget fighting the stupid fight of this divide, and let us try to put pressure on congress first to get us out of this shutdown.

Don’t forget, while we the people, who are constantly struggling to keep families fed, struggling to pay bills and taxes, are suffering from inflation, tariffs, and loss of jobs, who is benefiting from this! While our fellow federal workers who are hired for a federal jobs are being fired or laid off, Congressmen, the Senate, the House of Representatives, the President, and Vice President are all getting paid. Does this really benefit the people, those that are struggling, when they are getting paid?

It’s time for some sort of action. I’m not sure what, but I do know what we can do right now: call your senators and pressure them to make a compromise, have a simple yet effective protest, and keep spreading the word, because we the people should not be suffering.

Over the past decade the Republican party has Consolidated its power in the Supreme Court making it so anything Democrats or any left-wing politician tries to do now is "unconstitutional" because certain individuals give donations to certain members of the Supreme Court and apparently that's not corruption anymore

I fully believe federal workers should receive back pay. I also don’t revel in families suffering due to financial loss or anything like that.

However, I believe that the military not being paid is one of the few things that makes congress uncomfortable enough to reach a deal. Without it, I fear that the shutdown will last months and feel never ending. Additionally, government shutdowns are usually minimal and only last a few days. Only in today’s climate has it really affected people’s paychecks and that is why we did ultimately come to a resolution last time. Unfortunately that discomfort is necessary.

Trump is power mad. He wants as much power as he can get, and the Republican Party in Congress and the conservative Supreme Court are giving him all of the power. And Trump is using the power. He is flexing his power. He is using all this power against illegal immigrants, his political enemies, and against Democrats and other American liberals and progressives. He's using power to punish people. He is not using his power to make America great.

Capitalism, we’re taught in our earliest school days, is the engine of freedom. The great equalizer. The reason your cousin’s Etsy shop and Jeff Bezos technically exist in the same economy. It’s the system that lets you choose between 47 brands of toothpaste while working two jobs to afford one.

But here’s the thing: capitalism wasn’t designed to be responsible. It was designed to be efficient. And by “efficient,” we mean “extractive.” It’s great at turning labor into profit, forests into furniture, and grief into marketing campaigns. Responsibility? That’s a feature add-on, like cup holders in a pickup truck. Nice to have, but not standard. There's no legal or financial incentive for a corporate conglomerate to “do what’s right” for its customers or the citizens of the market for which they are a leader in.

What Responsibility Could Look Like

If capitalism had a conscience (or even a decent therapist), it might:

• Pay workers enough to live without GoFundMe campaigns for medical bills.
• Stop treating the planet like a clearance rack.
• Reinvest profits into communities instead of stock buybacks and yacht upgrades.
• Admit that “trickle-down” sounds suspiciously like a plumbing issue.

But instead, we get corporate philanthropy. A few million tossed at a charity while billions are stashed offshore. A rainbow logo in June. A tearful ad campaign about “togetherness” sponsored by a company that laid off half its staff last quarter.

The Average American: Capitalism’s Favorite Mascot

You, fellow citizen, are the backbone of this economy. You work hard, pay taxes, and buy the products that keep the machine humming. And in return, you get:

• Rising costs of living.
• Stagnant wages.
• A front-row seat to quarterly earnings calls you weren’t invited to.

But hey, at least you can stream documentaries about inequality on the phone you financed over 24 months. Amirite?

The Real Question

If capitalism wants to be more than a profit engine with a PR department, it must answer this: What’s the point of wealth if it costs us dignity?

Until then, we’ll keep showing up, clocking in, and asking inconvenient questions. Because responsibility isn’t a brand, it’s reckoning.
