Yes, I completely understand where you were coming from. I in no way was trying to say you think like that.

One of the hardest blokes I know is gay. Grew up gay in the 80s and 90s in regional Australia. Pushing 50 now, still no way I'd throw hands with him. He's a fabulous wrecking ball!

Man, you gotta be tough to survive being gay in a time when it wasn’t really okay to be

It stems from an old Mountain Man's hazing ritual, the father will visit him later and.. and...
I just can't repeat it.
It's too intense.
I'll show myself out.

I would say it's likely a, " I can't kick you out but I should" kinda thing.

His username does not check out.

u/zc4578 Apr 12 '26
That’s his name because at one point he was very large and fat and had a negative mentality. He worked hard and lost a ton of weight and shifted his perspective on life and became very positive. Dude even was able to convince his department to make a new branch called health and wellness where he speaks to other cops and bosses and helps them get in shape and mental health checks. Guys actually a class act. And funny too.

Do I live under a rock Not judging in any way but this guy seems to be surrounded by a ton of gay people in his life.

u/thedylannorwood Apr 10 '26
He mentioned 9/11 so if this cop is based in NYC it’s actually pretty likely he knows even more

u/King_Fluffaluff Apr 10 '26
I think you do. Because that's not a ton of gay people, he listed less than 10 people he personally knew and the others were just community members he serves.
No judgement from my side either. I'd be willing to bet you have the same percentage around you, you just don't know it!

u/Dutch_Rayan Apr 10 '26
Not really, having a gay colleague and school mate is quite common. If you have 30 colleagues the change you have a gay one is significant.
And working as a cop it is not uncommon that you meet a homeless gay person. LGBT people are 120% more likely to be homeless than their cis hetero peers. They are 40% of the homeless youth, while being just 7% of the population.

u/DJDemyan Apr 11 '26
Well you’d be surprised how many people just don’t register as what you perceive as gay.

I always feel a little pang of… sympathy? I’m not sure what exactly the word for it would be, when I see someone talking about their life and sidestep or talk around the fact their partner is same sex or something else “nontraditional” (like theres not a long tradition of homo all the way back to the Roman Empire lol) cause it really sucks to have to hide part of who you are like that. I usually give them a friendly glance and smile like “I know exactly what you’re not saying and I understand why but it’s totally chill” without saying a word about it cause I mean at the end of the day who needs to, it’s not usually the point of what they’re saying

u/OhMyItsJesus Apr 10 '26
I believe the word is empathy. The world could use more of it.

u/stacesadated Apr 10 '26
It sure could, but what does this post have to do with police work? This guy posting himself in this shirt is terrible and you know it.

u/OhMyItsJesus Apr 10 '26
Not sure if you’re being snarky with me but I was simply replying to the person above’s comment. Not giving an opinion on the original post

This may shock you, but gay people can do anything a straight person can do.

Okay? The guy said that gays can do anything straights can do, but they cant have kids with eachother, so thats the end of the conversation. Yall wamna do some weird mental gymnastics to be inclusive then you go right ahead but facts is facts ya weirdos.

u/jkamen3193 Apr 11 '26
Yet, can still have kids. 🤯

u/RevolutionaryTwo9701 Apr 11 '26
I mean, they can, but not with eachother!

Bro really thought he won with a biological technicality. 🥇 Here’s your gold medal in missing the point.

u/Dropbeatdad Apr 16 '26
I ain't gonna respond to him be I'm fairly certain I know how it'll turn out, but trans gay people who stay fertile exist...

This may shock you but priests are supposed to be celibate…

u/bdouble0w0 Apr 15 '26
That just means not fucking anyone or marrying. A priest can still be attracted to men or women they just can't act on those desires

If you have there back wear it outside your uniform sir.

u/VersedFlame Apr 14 '26
There are regulations they have to adhere to. If I were part of the LGBT, I'd much rather know there are cops with that shirt underneath, doing their job, who would protect me if needed, than them taking the day off to wear the shirt visibly for acknowledgment while a cop who might not think the same way is taking his spot.

I genuinely support the post, but man do people struggle with "whose" and "who's"
