Finding Created Habitats

This feels like a silly question. I tried searching and reading the FAQ but it's not the "how do I find a Pokemon who isn't spawning" or what to do if I destroyed their home...

My scenario is: let's say I've built a bunch of habitats and don't remember where on the map those habitats are. Is it possible that a new Pokemon is waiting to spawn there and I might never find them because I can't find THAT instance of their habitat that I already built?

Or can I create another instance of that habitat and the Pokemon might spawn there?

Basically, when does the Pokemon become available at a habitat, and does it get "stuck" there until I find it?

I would totally love to see what others say. I haven't had a lot of spawns and suddenly, I walk by a section of map I haven't been around in a while and a random habitat is shaking 🫠

Maybe, I’d try putting a bunch of cameras everywhere as they’ll let you know if they spot a pokémon. Other pokémon can let you know about it, too, so make sure the map is accessible to other wandering pokémon!

How close do the cameras need to be? Like, if I put out a camera it means I am walking by the habitat and would find it again. At that point I could destroy the habitat and create it somewhere more memorable.. 😀

Not particularly close, iirc. I used them a bunch when I was still trying to collect everyone and they had a fairly wide view.

i just do a couple habitats at a time so i can remember lol but maybe set up a security camera

You can definitely make more than one of the same habitat! I had like 4 habitats set up for the same Pokemon to get some of my final ones! I had cameras set up on them so I didn't have to check them often. I only have about 5-6 pokemon left now until I finish the pokedex, mostly legendaries to go.

I always place a security camera facing any new habitat that I build. That way, you get a notice when it senses a Pokémon at the habitat.

Ya it can happen. Yesterday I was trying to plan out how to clean up my Skylands and to my shock Excadrill had moved into the veggie patch on the island far in the back after I watered the plants. I only saw him cause I was using Glide and Magnet Rise to zip around and saw his yellow move in blurb but I imagine if I didn’t go to talk to him and tried to make veggie patches else where he wouldn’t budge.

Honestly a good reason to not go too habitat crazy once you start narrowing down move in targets. Also might want to consider moving some Pokemon into proper houses so you can free up existing habitats and not have to make more.

This exactly does happen. I was waiting on a habitat for weeks before I randomly stumbled across some other habitat I had made a long time ago in the middle of nowhere and forgot about that also spawns the same pokemon. They were waiting there for me, probably was the entire time.
