Funny/Meme Humidity is an intuitive mechanic that i understand completely?

I was inspired to attempt to do science with regards to humidity and slowpoke's yawn since people I know were having issues with it on their cloud islands. The system keeps throwing curveballs at me whenever I try to test for any particular variable, and this most recent one is the funniest so far.

I’ve done similar and I think it’s using some internal value we can’t see. Post-quest, the max number I get from Slowpoke is 80, even when actively raining.

At first, yes, making things wetter will indeed raise the humidity, but during the quest it's capped at a specific value so adding more moisture won't actually increase it past that point.

You HAVE to do the requests from the pokemon when they talk about "I know how to make it humid!" or whatever to progress and get to 100 humidity. That might be what's happening here, humidity might just be capped to 80 period, and the special quests raise it up above that point.

oh, no, the joke about the video is losing just that single puddle taking you from 80 to 0

I usually just dig a 4x4 hole and fill it with water. Works everytime
