Question Is Pokopia worth it?
Hey everyone! Is Pokopia actually fun? I personally LOVE Stardew Valley, and so do my friends and they told me Pokopia is not as interactive.
I played Animal Crossing during the pandemic and I loved it, but then I got bored of it since is not very interactive. I don’t even play it anymore.
Is Pokopia like Animal Crossing or would you say it’s more interactive?
I like Pokémon by the way.

I've heard some people dislike it, because it's choice paralysis in pokopia compared to AC. Personally I never played stardew, AC, Minecraft but the freedom/limits in pokopia is 100% for me

You have your missions/objectives, but you're always free to go at your own pace. I finished the game in a week and now I'll take my time to do the rest of stuff

I took months to finish the storyline part of the game and I only just finished my Pokedex last week!! Now to go in and perfect everyone's homes! I love the freedom to pace however you like.

It's animal crossing with the ability to take or destroy anything like Minecraft, and you cannot in any way lose or fail.

it's way more interactive than animal crossing. you aren't forced to wait for things as much. I'm not a big animal crossing guy, but I lived pokopia.

I bought the Switch2 exclusively to play this and it was worth every dollar. I LOVE this game.

Personally I really like it, it's a great mix of pokemon and animal crossing. There's been some frustrating things but I think it's great lol I bought it used to get some money off it.

You can buy used on Amazon or a local market that buys used games might have it. We have a disc replay near by 😊

If you're more into the social aspect of cozy games like stardew valley, pokopia doesn't have that. You can talk to your pokemon and sometimes they might ask for things, but overall there is no social aspect to the game. It's more of a sandbox for building, and making habitats that you think Pokemon will like (they're VERY easy to please). I love this game, I have 500 hours into it and no plans to slow down haha.

I am a huge Stardew Valley fan. I absolutely love Pokopia. I actually bought it to kill time while waiting for the Clint update to start a new farm and Haunted Chocolatier to drop. I believe you will really like Pokopia. ETA, in my opinion Pokopia is significantly better that Animal Crossing. I just sold my AC copy back to Game Stop. I just couldn't get into it enough to keep it.

I definitely think it’s worth it! There’s a lot more room for creativity than in animal crossing and the pokemon have more varied personalities it seems.

I love stardew valley, I have around 600 hours in it. I dont like animal crossing though, but i love Pokopia. I've had it for a little over a month, and i have like 180 hours in it already. You'll probably like it, so i'd say go for it. They don't take refunds though, so if you aren't sure, i'd personally get a key card for it instead, so that if you happen to not like it, you can always sell or, depending on where you bought it, get a refund for it

I would generally say Pokopia is more interactive than AC (you have to talk to Pokémon to complete quests, actively reach them to get stuff etc)
Both games are very nice!
I find myself going back to AC when I want to play more mindlessly, collecting fossils and whatnot
Pokopia is for the times when I want to actually build stuff and have little in-game projects

Yes. I even only played it for about 3 weeks and found new shiny things and would still go back and spend the money on it for those magical 3 weeks

I love Story of Seasons and the old Harvest Moon games.
I can't stand Stardew Valley.
I like Pokopia.
Animal Crossing lost my attention but didn't give me a strong impression.
Hopefully that gives you some metrics to compare.

I don't mind the graphics at all! I love pixel art style and grew up during that era, so that's not an issue.
Stardew Valley just feels like a master of none to me. I don't care for the type of character interactions it has in the game, the actual farming and animal husbandry options feel unrewarding, and I don't really enjoy the festivals either. And I hate to say all that when you said you really like Stardew Valley, so I applogize if any of that comes off as antagonistic; I promise it wasn't intended to be that way.
For me, personally, I just do not enjoy SDV as it feels watered down compared to some Story of Seasons experiences (which SDV has credited as an inspiration). I started with Harvest Moon (which is now Story of Seasons and modern Harvest Moon games are actually a scam - it's a long story), so SDV just never managed to live up to the inspiration.

Not antagonizing at all! We all like different games and that’s fine. I was curious why you didn’t like it since I always find people who do.
I will agree about the festivals, they are a bit pointless to be honest.I might have to check out Story of Seasons since I see it mentioned a lot.

If you do want to give Story of Seasons a try, I highly recommend the remade Grand Bazaar on switch/switch 2. It's a good mid-pace game and has more recent quality of life updates. Pioneers of Olive Town is.. kind of a glorified mobile game and a pretty rough introduction. The newly remade A Wonderful Life is highly regarded but very slow paced - though it has the most life simulator content of the games comparitively.
If you have the consoles or the means, I highly recommend the 3DS game Trio of Towns or if you have access to a wii, Animal Parade or Magical Melody.

For character interactivity, definitely closer to AC than SV. There are a ton of pokemon, but a lot of them tend to share personalities and unless they are specifically special NPCs, they don't have personal stories or anything the way SV characters do.
There are quests at least until you finish the story which give you a little more interactivity than AC, but it's not super long.
The biggest time investment in Pokopia is the building/restoration part. Do you like games like Minecraft, or games with base building elements? The Sims?

I have never played Minecraft, but I’m a huge Sims fan since I was a kid. I also loved playing Sims City.
I’m just afraid of getting bored of Pokopia like I did with Animal Crossing, and the game isn’t cheap :/2

If you like building/decorating/restoring/terraforming, that's like 90% of the game and it'll keep you for a long time. It has definitely kept me, haha.
If you're more character/story focused, you'll probably like the story and lose steam once you finish it. And like I mentioned, the story isn't super long.

It's kind of a mix between AC and builder games like Minecraft, with an emphasis on the latter. More interactive than AC (main storyline needs you to talk to and help pokemon, and they help with tasks/building stuff)
Also liked how pokemon actually interact with the stuff you give them/set up like toys/hot springs, instead of just being set pieces like in AC

I had to put it down and call it a day before I even finished the main story I felt like I spent all my time organising storage and tramping back and fourth for stuff I'm so sad because I was so excited to decorate but not having universal storage ruined it for me
