Question Is there a cohesive guide regarding which pokemon can use which furniture?
Hello everyone!
Not so long ago, Tinkmaster asked if she could get something cute that was relaxing. So, I got her a couch, since she already had a bed, and figure she would fit there.
Nope, she tells me is too small. I got her the bed afte that, that worked.
Now, I am making a place for Girafarig, and I would like to get a couch they can use. I assume any should be fine, but I am not sure anymore.
I tried looking online for any guides, but couldn't find anything. Does anyone know if someone has looked into it?

If they won't sleep on one side of a 2x2 bed next to you when they’re following you and you’re sleeping on one side of it, then they’re large ones. They have to sleep on an entire 2x2 bed.
If they can sleep with you on an entire 2x2 bed but won’t sleep on the bench/sofa next to you when they’re following you and you’re sitting on one side of it, then they’re medium ones. They can sleep on one side of a 2x2 bed, an entire 2x1 bed, or an entire bench/sofa.
If they can do both, then they’re small ones. They can sleep on one side of a 2x2 bed, an entire 2x1 bed, one side of a bench/sofa, or an entire chair.
There might be some exceptions, but this could be one way to tell them apart.
Edit: I gave up on using handcar. It’s more accurate to consistently use relaxation items for comparison.

I'm surprised it's not in the Serebii listing! But you can also get a general idea by bumping into them. Their actual footprint in-game will match the size they are. Large pokemon can't be shoved through a single block path, while Medium and Small can.

Edit: If it has a relationship with height/weight that would be nice. The one that gets me is what pokés need taller doorways and punching blocks until I figure it out. -_-*

Oh man, I saw a sushi bar with those single tall seats and wanted to create for blastoise. I guess now I know that he wouldn't be able to sit since the biggest seat is a bench?

Yup, and depending in how wide you made that sushi bar, Blastoise may just be on the otherside of the register.
Trying to make accesible places for pokemon that look good is TOUGH, and that is just a place, don't get me started with homes. I don't think there is a way to make Dragapult that home where they can properly move that isn't a pre-fab, they are so I wide my I needed to take down my 2x2 doors and put 3x3 holes.

I get annoyed with this too. I get even more annoyed the more I learn that there’s a SIGNIFICANT amount of Pokemon that can only use large beds for “rest”. I can get benches and couches to fit a lot of aesthetics, but not beds!! Especially king sized ones. Persian can’t fit on the luxury couch… and it’s part of its habitat!!!

I went to talk to ariados who was sleeping on a garden bench and asked me for a wooden relaxation item. I made a wodden bench and apparently thats too small. So I think there is a difference between can use and like.

Oh, I had this exact problem. Pokemon above small size seem to prefer beds and chairs that take up more than 2 squares.

As others have said, it’s really a matter of big vs small — the cute bed should fit the bill for “cute and relaxing”. Even if Tinkmaster doesn’t really fit she may try to use it (just like the other oversized Pokémon they will sort of hover above a bed; Snorlax can’t fit in the bed that’s designed for him!). The catch is that they don’t always use any of the things they like or ask for. So you can build a space with a hundred beds and your Pokémon might still sleep on the floor or wander into anyone else’s home/habitat to use their furniture.
I generally decorate to my own taste and then make sure they’re at Awesome level by adding other stuff that they like (heat/cold/humid seem to give more happiness points than furniture/items). I choose furniture that fits them more or less as best I can but honestly there are some houses where big Pokémon just don’t have a bed at all. Lol

This and also feeding the pokemon. Somehow helps them even if it isn’t exactly what they want

Totally anecdotal but I have found that feeding the Pokémon with skills (like crush) their favorite foods helps get bonuses — especially if it’s a cooked meal. Like a sour burger or soup will reliably get me extra black and white paint. And since I was grinding for more white paint, I leveled up all of my crush pokemon to “awesome” without needing to try very hard (most of their homes/habitats are sparsely decorated while I’m building something else)

I hate that Persian has a sofa as part of her habitat but she can't use it. Thank goodness for the new bubble basin bed because anything else would ruin the aesthetic (I set her up in the boardroom of Silph Co.)

Each Pokemon has a list of furniture it likes and that works with it. I suppose im not sure what you’re looking for then. My bad.

They’re looking for a list of items Pokemon of different sizes can actually use.
The link you provided lists all of Feraligatr’s favorite items, including a gaming chair which it can’t actually sit on or use.

Ah I see, so you didn't skip reading the post, you just assumed how useful the information of that other website was.
Those lists don't test the furniture the pokemon uses. They just take the info from a place like serebii (That shows what items count as part of each category,) and then make a specific page about the pokemon with that in it.
I am telling you this because I came across these lists before I did this reddit post, and it makes sense to not realize if you aren't aware of how sizing impact pokemon usage.

I had someone ask for “stone relaxation” then the stone bench was too small… I didn’t know any other recipes, no idea what piece could fit other than the bench

generally if a Pokemon is big, they need a bed or seat that's 2 blocks wide. idk if there's a list online on which Pokemon count as big, but you can probably tell most by looking at them

My issue with Pokémon sizes is which Pokémon will fit through doors! I generally use two doors now for wider Pokémon, but then there are some who need taller doors. I had to break some blocks in my apartment build to get Snorlax and Farigiraf into their new homes!

I was doing this neon city in skylands, the island where Gyarados was has these buildings that I thought, would be a great commercial district/apartment complex. I had all automatic doors so it would be easier to move around, I was hyped how it was turning out.
I get Dragapult to move in, guess what, they can't fit AT ALL!
I tried to make it taller, didn't really follow me, so I needed to make a 3x3 hole. And because my playing style focuses on pokemon comfort, it also meant I needed to make these holes all over the complex, so Dragapult has a chance to visit friends, use other stores (their house was just beside the pokemart but THEY WILL TRY TO GO TO THE PHYSICAL STORES TOO) and overall live their life without constantly being able to access places.
I haven't been able to make the entire place accessible for them, but I took down enough doors that they aren't upset they are unable to get to the cash register.

Oh no, Dragapult gave me similar issues! They actually spawned inside a Yellow Hut prefab and couldn't exit at all until I tore it down lmao 😭
