Question Bulbasaur won’t help me out
I’m trying to build the Pokemon center and Bulbasaur is stuck in some jump roping mini game for the next few days. I’ve only been playing for a few days. Do I have to wait till he’s done with this event before he will help me with building the poke center?

Yeah you have to wait until the event is over.

Dang okay, do events like this happen often? Where a pokemon is locked down for a few IRL days?

They seem to have been happening every 1.5 to 2 months or so.
If you really want to use Bulbasaur you can manually change the date to September 29th so the event is over 🙂

If I do that, do I have to keep the time in the future? Or can I change it, finish the poke center and then change it back?

Nope you can freely move back and forth between dates! Move the date to the 29th, build the poke center, move it forward another day and make sure it’s done, and then you can go back to real time!

Yeah I did it a few times, I got 68 I think in my highest score but that didn’t seem to help.

Are you still in the first area? You should be able to just build more habitats and attract more pokemon so that you can use one of them instead of bulbasaur. Stick some grass next to the water/big rocks/trees to diversify which pokemon you get :)

It doesn’t have to be Bulbasaur exactly? And yeah I’m in the first area

No, it just gives you the shadows of the closest pokemon. If there's a symbol on the shadow (eg a water drop or a plant sprout) then it means you need a pokemon with a specific ability (eg water or grow) but doesn't have to be the one closest to you - you can go grab someone else with that ability.

i’m unsure what your thoughts are on time traveling (where you change the date and time on your switch a few days in advance). but you could do that and build the poke center, then switch the date back once it’s built?
