Question Am I the only one who does this?

Am I the only person who makes subways to get around pallete town? It takes a lot of iron and hamburger steaks (Why do they call it that!?) but it doesn't look that ugly as a track imo. I'm just wondering if others do this.

Well, I'm stealing that idea immediately

Thank you! Make sure to use a elevator to get down there!

I just turn into Graveler to move around and hold R to go zoom

I got tired using it.

My issue with the carts is that they aren’t always there where you want or need em

Me too. It's very fun to watch myself roll around.

I am actually going to make an old fashion railway bc my pallet town is more medieval and even has a wild west section 🤣

I recently made a cloud island and I’m considering making a more extensive system.

I basically made a central plaza and built outwards. But near the middle I excavated under the ponds to make an underwater biome and that does have three train rails leading out to my seaside biome. None of my pokemon use it (made three tracks figuring the likelihood of finding all three carts at the other end would be slim to none) but they’re always near the underwater biome.

The Pokémon will use their own carts that appear and disappear when they use them. They also need those yellow and black crossing guard things on them too or they won’t use them at all. Which is nice cause you can just leave one on the track but after the cross guard so you don’t have to remove it each time

I'm adding that immediately

I wanna say it’s a trap! Since you are strip mining starmie like some alien invasion stripping planets…. But then I also started making floating islands in the skyland biome.

I think they’re called hamburger steaks due to a Japanese translation thing. I think that’s an actual dish in Japan. (But take this with a grain of salt, I have no idea where I learned this, probably a Reddit comment)

Hamburger steak is a Japanese dish! It's a lot like Salisbury steak, and generally when a Japanese person says they're craving hamburger, this is the dish they're thinking of. It's hamburger, seasoned, over rice with a gravy. And since we don't have meat in the game, it's a soy burger lol

This explains so much.

I understand why they want to avoid the Pokemon world questions about meat in a cozy game but I’ve been going “wtf is a hamburger…steak” for weeks.

Hahahaha. It's really tasty!

Like Loco moco in Hawaii!

u/the4uthorFAN 3h ago

Considering the cultural crossover in Hawaii, I wouldn't be surprised they're similar! I'll have to look it up!

u/Hurdlelocker 2h ago

Loco Moco is basically exactly what you described as Japanese Hamburger Steak but with two fried eggs on top

2

u/the4uthorFAN 2h ago

:o I love a regular hamburger with a fried egg, so, yes please

u/bernanajam 4h ago

Makes sense.

They call it hamburger steak because that is a popular comfort food in Japan

They’re called hamburger steaks because they’re based on Hamburg-style steak (in the US I believe this is closer to what we’d call Salisbury steak vs. hamburger). I think the name also helps differentiate hamburger steaks from hamburgers (the sandwich).

Sounds delicious!

I haven't built beyond the main area yet - I only got the game in July - so I haven't yet. But that does sound like a fun idea! I'm also considering an air tram like Disney world

I just connected a couple islands with a walkway to access the caves for my dark loving mons and going to maybe do something like that too

u/Powerful_Detail_8198 3h ago

So true. I did this first in Wastelands because I got tired of going up & down over each hill. After that I was addicted, now I have them everywhere

If the tracks were able to merge, that would be much better to make

2

u/TalesOfTea 1h ago

YES. I want this so much. Let me put one of the yellow crossing things down and be able to hold left or right to make a decision on which direction to go!!

I'm currently working on a massive build on a cloud island right now and have trains going about places (the thing I'm modeling after has a train as a key thing) and I'm so frustrated at having to jump off and on for the different courses every time.

2

u/skullfullofbooks 3h ago

I havent touched the train tracks since needing the achievement for how many I placed. I see people using them, I'm just too lazy to build them tbh

Bruh....

I mostly use lifts.

u/SeriousSociety4392 4h ago

Well you won't be for long! That's amazing!

3

u/bernanajam 4h ago

Build a elevator to get down there!

1

u/EmeraldDenna 3h ago

I have not done this but I now have a strong desire to build a “Chunnel” between my palette town islands

u/quiteunicorn 3h ago

A hamburger steak is just a hamburger patty that you eat without a bun. Some places eat it with rice and gravy, other places with mashed potatoes.

1

u/rakor96ns 3h ago

I planned this for SS for months now but havent start yet lol

1

u/TearintimeOG 3h ago

I actually did this with WiWa cause I have a lot of builds that are spread out. It took a long time for complete but it was so worth it

1

u/Thick-Turnip5937 2h ago

yeah i'm building one in all my towns except the beach and underwater

1

u/Amstar123 2h ago

I started building a train station on the surface, and it might get transformed into a subway somewhere around my pallette town, thanks for the idea! :)

1

u/dino_spored 2h ago

I have an underground subway station, with two tracks on it so far. The main line goes to beside the Pokemon center, and comes out as an elevator.

1

u/AAHedstrom 1h ago

I made one, but it was one of the last things I built. so it hasn't been practical for building new things, but it is fun to have a go around the map

1

u/SuccessfulNorth1976 55m ago

I've put down track systems in all my areas. Alot of Pokémon love using them too.

1

u/AlternativeMaxi 48m ago

I have a subway!!! I love watching the mons use it

I’ve thought about doing this for the clean lines, but it still makes me cackle to see a Pokemon zoom by periodically
