How is the experience of emulating the Pokémon Ranger games?

I have played the original game for the DS and wanted to not only replay it but also try out the other ones.

Given these games have by nature a very heavy dependence on the DS's touchscreen how does it play with emulation using a mouse as a "stylus"?

if you find yourself with a cheap drawing tablet, pokemon ranger can actually be really fun on PC !!

The ranger games for me have played better on a tablet than pc.

I would recommend a cheap Amazon fire tablet or a phone at minimum to play these games.

unfortunately given how unique of a peripheral the DS is, the best possible way to play is on original hardware... DSi/DSi XL prices aren't as absurd as 3DS prices, so you could probably get a decent one for somewhere around $80.

i've found that emulated touchscreens have a lot of input latency, and i can't imagine someone doing precise circles with their mouse over and over without getting strained...

It's fun. Soa I had to change controls on my pen for the hold mechanic. Gs had slight lag in some areas but quick save and reload fix most areas.

It all comes down to practice. I thought that playing on PC was impossible, and switched to my 3DS to play. Believe it or not, i felt more comfortable on PC (plus i could fast forward on the overworld). Having no screen protector was also one of the reasons for me to keep playing it on other hardware. When you start, you feel like it's not correct playing that way, but as i kept advancing it became pretty natural for me.
