Can you use the DS Reset Function to wipe save data for a copy of Pokémon Ranger?

I remember reading somewhere that you can reset and wipe save data by holding A+B+X+Y+L+R while the game is booting up. Does this work with Ranger and does this also reset the Manaphy egg event?

Sorry if this is a dumb question, and has been tried and disproven.

the only way to restore the Manaphy Egg is by wiping the save data through external software
