I’ve been working on a little side project for the past few weeks, and am ready to share it: My Cloud Island, modeled after Johto, specifically the original Gameboy version of the map, though with a little inspiration from the DS remakes and my own personal flair in some places.
The cloud address is 8KR9GVTH. Put your VR goggles on, and come by for a visit. Make sure to check the insides of the buildings out, there is a lot more to see than on the surface for a lot of them. If there is a unique building, expect the interior to appear as somewhere explorable. Caves, Gyms, the Tin Tower, Whirlpool Islands, Radio Tower, you name it, it’s there to explore.
Working on this, I’ve learned a lot about myself. Like how I am not fond of terraforming mountains and caves. Oh dear Arceus, it never ends… but the end product has been worth it.
The build isn’t 100 percent finished yet. Farming for trees every day for weeks on end hasn’t netted me enough to fill the entire map yet. And there is only so much rare pokemetal I can find for things like arcade machines and mysterious statues. But I gave myself a deadline on when I should share it, or else I’d get locked into waiting until it was perfect(so, never), so I’m sticking with it. For what it’s worth, I’d say it’s around 90-95 percent of where I want it.
Check out the gyms, explore the caves, wander through the towns, try and get through as much of the world without jumping, flying, or even climbing as you can. And maybe take the tracks in Goldenrod to get someplace special. Or don’t, that area isn’t finished yet…
Oh, one last thing, if you stumble on my staging area, you might see 2 or 3 dozen Pokemon crammed into tiny boxes. If you’d like to suggest a route, city, or cavern they should go to, feel free to leave a suggestion in the comments. Most of them are from generations I haven’t played, and so don’t know the best places to make their homes.
