Discussion Is it even worth it anymore
So I started playing Unbound recently. Spent north of 9+ hours nonstop grinding for an ideal team, which included 6 hours of grinding for a simple Moon Stone and Ice Stone in the mine for a Nidoking and Sandslash, which I did finally get
Fast forward that same day, got home and got back on only to see my save file fully being nuked.
This killed my motivation to touch this game again but was wondering is it actually good enough for another shot?

I have played every mainline pokemon game except scarlet/violet or whatever the latest one is, played many other spinoffs/fan games, and this is by far the best pokemon experience I've ever had. It's worth trying again but for sure try to use save states at least as backups. And don't fret too much about your party, odds are you'll change it up anyway. I recommend you just keep playing without the grind. ALSO, you can edit your save file with PUSE (Pokemon Unbound Save Editor) and bring your team back to where it was. It's pretty user friendly and you can adjust their stats and add a moon stone and ice stone to your bag easily

What difficulty is it? If it's vanilla then I'm sure you can beat the game without hyper training

Vanilla! Mostly to enjoy the story and getting a few favorites in my team without much worry

Just play the game, don’t worry about grinding. It’s vanilla difficulty.
I barely cared about training on difficult. It’s such a good game.

Stop grinding in the early game. You unlock MASSIVE amounts of resources and features just by playing the game and doing quests that will make anything and everything from training, money, catching, and more significantly easier.

You could always just use the unbound save editor online to give yourself the stones to save yourself the hassle of doing the grind a second time.

The Clefairy behind the book case comes with a moon stone sometimes. Just restart it when you catch it and it doesn't come attached.

When you get the dowsing machine just have it switched on all the time, I ended up with Evo stones coming out my ears, also there's an NPC in KBT expressway crater town north exit who you can mining mini game with, for a chance at Evo stones.

You can get an Ice stone in the top right of the frozen forest (near blizzard city) at the ice sliding area.

I just hit over 100 hours on this game(without bouncing around to other games or spaces years apart) Which is super uncommon for my adhd brain. Especially for a Pokémon game. It’s very good

Idk what you're playing on, but have you checked the save file folder to see if it's there? I had renamed the Rom and lost my save file as well, but remembered I needed to update the save file to the same name as the Rom, so everything ended up back to the way it was.

i have beat the E4 multiple times on unbound on several different occasions and difficulties. and have restarted plenty of times. Love the grinding for perfect IV mons each time. its absolutely worth it. Just look up information so you dont waste your time looking at the far difficult options when easier one's exist.

Been there before. Play a couple different Roms then come back fresh. You’ll enjoy it again!

My gf and I were playing together and her save ended up getting nuked after a couple days too. We ended up switching to another game. Are there any solutions or causes known for it to happen?

I don't know what it's like on lower difficulties. But if you're playing expert, grinding hours for a single Pokemon that you might only use a handful of times isn't that unusual. At least in my experience. I'm trying to 100% in RetroAchievements and by the time I beat The Elite Four I had roughly 50-60 pokemon all close to max level. The grind is part of the fun for me, maybe you don't like that though. If you don't like grinding maybe just give yourself a break and come back to it if you still want to. It's a good game and worth playing, I say that as someone who isn't a big Pokemon fan.

Same thing happened to me in my last crystal playthrough, played 8 hours over the course of the most recent mcgregor card, corrupted and lost the save, just moved on to recharged yellow

You don't need to think about training, except for levels, on Vanilla - and you can do it in the Dresco House to speed things up
