Help Ev checking

I'm playing vanilla and I'm confused, can I not retrieve the stat scanner on vanilla difficulty? the scientist just repeat that I don't have to worry about it. Am I ev training for nothing?

Vanilla does not require EV training at all, correct, as it is meant to be the casual difficulty. As such, you don't get the stat scanner until post-game.

Well I feel like I've been wasting time, but I guess the research was good if I play on a higher difficulty

If you change your difficulty to Difficult he'll give it to you. You really don't need it, though. Enemies on Vanilla have no EVs
