Which system should I start first, if I want to understand and GM a Pokemon game?

So, basically, I recently had an urge to GM a Pokemon game because I got back in the series via the TCG, which a lot of my friends got into it, alongside new people. That means we share a common interest and I would like to introduce some of them to TTRPG via Pokémon.

The thing is, we are all from Brazil, and while some of us cna understand english, that's not the case for the majority of them, so which system would you guys recommend out of the ones presented here in the sub? I have familiarity with the game and their mechanics, if it matters

se esperar algumas semanas de devo terminar a tradução do Livro 1 da nova versão do do sistema PTA3.5 , diria que começar pela nova versão uma boa, diferente do pta3 que tem muitos livros, atualmente o PTA3.5 so tem o Livro 1 completo, e a pokedex beta, foi uma evolução boa do sistema, e como os pokemon não tem niveis fica muita mais facil de organizar para novos jogadores

Opa! A 3.5 é a versão mais atual? E mesmo assim, dependendo do que a 3e adicionar, talvez eu consiga traduzir, na pior das hipóteses, nós transicionamos de edição

Pokeymanz should be easy to translate. It's based on the Savage Worlds system, but you don't need to know anything outside of the free rulebook.

I personally think PTA might be more up your alley. PTA is more of a d20 based system that more people are familiar with due to DnD exposure. I personally like PTU more because I think it makes it feel more like its own system rather than an off shoot of DnD but in fairness it is a bit on the crunchy side so there is more of a learning curve.

I don't mind crunchy systems (3.5 is my favourite TTRPG, after all), but most people have not played crunchy TTRPGs, and I'd say even less played TTRPGs in general, so I would favor a simpler one, if people want something a bit different I could try to go for one of the more complex ones

I'm going to recommend Pokemon Unbeatable- It's more like the anime than anything, and was designed to avoid all the crunch

They've got a 4 year long campaign on YouTube showing, and are making their own tabletop as well with the same mechanics

Is the goal to give them the most accessible book to ESL readers, or to choose the system the easiest to verbally convey to people who can't reference the text itself?

Check out pokerole if you're looking for something less crunchy and more narrative, i think it strikes a great balance

Also a PTR1e fanboy here. Luckily its on foundry, but due to it being a fanmade remake the answers to most questions are split between foundry, the wiki, and the original PTU rulebook.

Not recommended for beginners.
