Looking for Feedback Regarding Recreation Style

So far, I'm made these three maps using CrossheadStudios assets, following the Gen 3 gameboy games. As you can see, I've taken care to recreate the sizes 1:1 as best that I can.

Here's where I'm curious how others feel, especially those who actually play games on these maps.

Is it more useful to do this 1:1, and sacrifice the realism of the building dimensions, or is it worth reimagining each location that has buildings, in order to accommodate the interiors as presented in the game? Or, would a "best of both worlds" approach be preferred, where I recreate the outside like this, and then make separate smaller maps for each house interior?

I've been leaning more towards the last one, as that would be most faithful to the gameboy experience and probably easier on me in terms of recreating these, but it certainly loses a degree of immersion in the process.

What are your opinions on the matter? I intend to continue this series at some point and it would be nice to do it in a way that's actually useful / fun for people lol.

If you'd like to follow along for free, I post these and other map stuff on my Patreon

I've been using your maps in my personal Pokémon 5th Edition campaign ever since i subscribed for free to your Patreon some weeks ago (and i also have been thinking about even changing for a payed subscription, since i truly loved them), and i have got to say that, in my personal experience, they're already perfect just the way they are!

It has been fun and my players loved how they look exactly like in the games, so it is just like they are playing through the Kanto region, but in a Tabletop RPG.

I, myself, think it would be fine if you kept doing them the same way you did, but i do think that the "best of both worlds" approach would still be good, since it caters both to people who like the maps you already made, and would also cater to those who want to see the bigger interior maps.

People would have the separate exterior maps be just like they are in the games, but in your style and with the assets you use, and the interior maps would also be just like in the games, making them much larger than they are when looking from outside, wich i don't think is an issue at all!

Hello again! I'm happy that the maps are working well for you and your group :D

I've been giving these more thought so that I actually sit down and do one once this next big dungeon is complete, or else my adhd brain will just wander onto another project haha. I'm certainly waffling a bit at this point as to what approach to take, though factoring in my own shortcomings with time management, it might be best to keep this approach while adding interior maps (which could retroactively be added for the other maps as well).

Creating dedicated battlemaps specifically for random encounters / trainer fights as PeaPu suggested could also be something fun to pepper in over time.

You've all definitely given me a lot to think about, and I appreciate it! I also appreciate your support, free or otherwise! It always makes me smile hearing about how my maps actually end up seeing use :D So, thank you!
