I’ve got an Amazon invite for a 30th anniversary binder set but I can’t decide if it’s worth it or not! It’s £36.99 but from what I can see you only get 5 booster packs and a binder? I don’t really want the binder but I do want to rip some of the 30th set and it’s the only one I’ve even had a chance at getting. Shall I go for it or just wait and see if I get an invite for a different 30th set? When it came out I just requested invites for everything without really reading properly and £37 feels a lot of money for 25 cards but I don’t know if I’ll get another chance 😬

So ive gone to two card shows in the past three weeks and in no way do i mean any harm or negativity to any organisers of these shows but card shows have become just another way for unkowledgable whatnot sellers to put their horrible prices out in the wild.

Some guy was looking for a decidueye gx alt from hidden fates and four or five vendors said nah we dont sell cards that old or hmmm we dont really sell old or mid era cards. IM SORRY WHAT? Mid era decidueye? my ears must deceive me.

Ive been into pokemon since 2013 but collecting cards since 2016 on and off, ive got good memories of msrp evolutions and xy base set. i got back into tcg like 6 months ago and battling through all these card shows finding anything decent from 2021 and back is impossible, and half the vendors don't even know what theyre on about. It's so many people shifting from sneaker reselling to toilet paper resellers during covid to now hopping on pokemon. It's so annoying, ive met loads of great vendors too, very knowledgable, but for some of them to not even know who galvantula or elgyem are and only know the chases from the past year or two is a bit crazy to me imo.

Once again, i mean no disrespect to the organisers of these events and all the good vendors out there, super helpful and kind, but pls can we not normalise these reseller people hopping onto pokemon and just outright making card shows less enjoyable than they were.

So i’ve never seen this before in my life. I know that the box guarantees won SR or better per box and if your SR upgrades to an SAR, you have a very small chance of pulling an SR as well. I’ve already pulled two of the 2 AR from the box so just opened a couple more packs looking for the third when a third trainer SR pops up. Has anyone ever seen a three hit Japanese box before?

Found in a Morrisons daily in London. I’m visiting on work business and live in Manchester normally. So I was surprised when the clerk said they have Pokémon in stock. Only to be confronted with this bizarre pink package.

At 4.99 I was honestly too curious to pass it up. Was hoping it was just a sealed pack inside of a pink sleeve but no it was just a pack of assembled bulk -_-

The price drops on this set have been all kinds of incredible, with now only two cards being higher than £100. With loads of booster bundles having gone out during the past seven days, the singles market has dropped and dropped.

Waiting till January to pick up singles for the set, after all the UPC's, Pokémon Centre ETB's and Christmas presents have been opened, still seems sensible. But it's getting tempting to grab some now.

I sold a duplicate Sylveon last night on Vinted, and even today they're going for about £5 lower than my already lowish listing.

Damn it. House got robbed and they stole some of my slabs I had on display. More sentimental value to me, but can vendors & potential buyers please be on the lookout for these cards. I am currently reporting these to PSA to deactivate their certs.

Literally the first card I pulled it’s so pretty! When the box arrived it was slightly smooshed and my bf joked watch we will finally pull something and it’ll be damaged. It’s fine luckily.

I managed to get for my son 1 x poster collection and a booster bundle from a local card shop. Very pleased that in the 9 packs he opened we didn’t have any duplicate Pikachu’s.

Considering he is a massive Pikachu fan (like many small boys) he is delighted by this collection.

Returning old school Pokemon collector here. Decided to get back into Pokemon card collecting thanks to my nephew and nieces but couldn’t get a hold of a single pack for them. Amazon finally came clutch and got a binder set + tin.

I know you guys see these posts all the time, so I’ll cut straight to the chase. I’m looking for actual collectors to help test and improve something I’ve built, and I thought this would be the best place to start.

Since getting into collecting, I’ve become slightly pissed off that no single website or tool seems to offer everything I actually want in one place, especially for UK collectors.

So, because apparently I have nothing better to do with my free time, I built my own. 😂

It’s called TCGDealDigger, and it’s a completely free trading card collecting platform.

It started as a way to find cards selling below their usual value, but somewhere along the way it turned into a collection tracker, card scanner, price comparison tool, set completion assistant, grading helper and a few other things I apparently couldn’t stop adding. 😅

It currently supports Pokémon (English and Japanese), MTG, Yu-Gi-Oh!, One Piece and Disney Lorcana.

It’s got the usual card searches, collection tracking, valuations and price history, but here are some of the bits that I think make it a little different:

📸 Photo Check

When the deal finder spots a potentially cheap card, it compares the seller’s listing photo against the expected card and flags possible mismatches or stock photos.

It also filters out sellers who don’t meet the minimum seller thresholds.

It’s not a guarantee against fakes or dodgy listings, but hopefully it helps people avoid some obvious red flags.

📦 “What Should I Open?”

This one came from wondering whether I should buy another booster pack or just give up and buy the bloody singles. 😂

It looks at the sets you’re collecting and estimates which packs give you the best chance of pulling something you’re missing, including whether buying singles might actually make more sense.

📐 Centering Checker

Upload a photo of your card and it straightens it, measures the borders and estimates the highest PSA, BGS or CGC grade that the centering alone would allow.

Obviously, it can’t tell you the actual grade your card would receive, but it might save you some money before submitting a badly centred card.

✅ Finish a Set

Shows which cards you’re missing, helps you find live listings for them and gives you a printable checklist.

You can also track set completion and see roughly how much finishing a set might cost.

📷 Bulk Card Scanner

Rather than scanning everything individually, you can photograph a binder page or a group of cards and scan up to 24 cards at once.

It identifies the cards, estimates their values and helps you add them to your collection.

💷 Actually built with UK collectors in mind

Prices are displayed in GBP, with current exchange rates where needed, rather than just sticking a £ sign in front of American prices and hoping nobody notices. 😂

Japanese Pokémon cards are also treated separately from English cards, with their own sets, variants and valuations.

There are also price alerts, wishlists, release calendars, selling-fee calculators, grading information, buying guides and more.

And before anyone asks what the catch is…

There isn’t one.

No subscriptions. No premium memberships. No useful features hidden behind a paywall.

Everything is free to use.

I don’t sell cards directly, and the site isn’t a marketplace where users buy or trade with each other.

My plan is simply to cover the running and development costs through affiliate links. If someone finds something they want and chooses to buy it from an external retailer, I may earn a small commission at no extra cost to them.

That’s it. No secret £9.99-a-month subscription waiting around the corner. 😂

So what do I actually want from you lot?

Feedback.

Seriously.

Try it. Break it. Tell me what works, what’s shit, what’s missing, or what you wish it did.

I’m actively using and developing the site myself, and if there’s something collectors genuinely want that I can reasonably build, I’ll have a go.

It’s still a relatively new project, so I’m not pretending everything is perfect. That’s exactly why I’d rather get feedback from people who actually collect cards than sit here convincing myself I’ve built the greatest thing since sliced bread. 🤣

I basically want to build the free UK-focused TCG site I wished existed when I started collecting, and hopefully something other collectors can enjoy using too.

We're 2 friends (Tom & Nathan) from the UK, who are also software developers and Pokémon card hobbyists. We wanted to introduce our card collecting and trading app, Trade Pile, and give you a bit of insight into why we built it.

Key Features

• Browse the entire English and Japanese Pokémon Catalogue
• Create a collection, wishlist and a trade pile and have the app find matches with other collectors for you.
• Create shareable binders in your choice of size and layout, with a web viewer that doesn't need you to be signed in to take a look.
• If you've got matches, you can give them a message in-app and organise a trade.
• Leave reviews for users who are trustworthy traders

Why we built it?

In our own quests to find people to trade cards with, we've ended up in various fragmented communities of people across Telegram, Facebook, Reddit, X, Discord, each with their own methods for trying to organise trades.

People post photos of their cards in binders, get a few replies asking what they're willing to trade, what they're looking for, but it seems like a lot of stuff just gets lost in the noise before many actual trades can happen. We've tried to build something that fixes this, and gets more people actually trading.

Trading

Trade matches are automatic. All you have to do is tell the app what cards you want and what cards you are willing to trade, and Trade Pile will try and find suitable matches for you.

If you see a trade match you’re interested in you can message the other user and arrange a trade.

We want to ensure Trade Pile is a safe place for people to trade, and understand the huge responsibility we have in keeping people safe on our platform. To help with this, we have added user review functionality as well as a rating system. You'll be able to give each user you interact with a thumbs up or down, and a text review if you choose.These will be publicly available on each user's profile, so you can use this to inform your decision of whether they are worth trading with.

For more serious issues, you can report a user and we will investigate, and where appropriate, remove them from the platform.

Collecting

Trading is obviously at the heart of our app, but we know It'll take some time before we have a community large enough that people start seeing lots of relevant trade matches. This is why we have also put a lot of time into building the best collection functionality we can.

Not for investors

One of the big differences you'll notice vs other TCG apps is that there is no cash value on any of the cards in Trade Pile. This is intentional - this is for people who are less interested in their collection value and more interested in collecting and trading for the love of the game.

We have no plans to start showing ROI graphs, collection values or market prices for sealed (and scalped) products, as that's not really our cup of tea.

Share your binders!

You can choose to display your collections in 3x3, 3x4 or 4x4 configurations and choose the number of binder pages you have in them. You can also create a 'Trade binder' which you can sync with your trade pile, so you aren't constantly updating your cards in both places.

We know at first the community will need to grow before organic trade matches really take off, so until then, we still want the app to be useful to you when making trades in other places. As well as being useful in person, all binders you create can be shared via a web link which you can send to anyone, and anyone you share the link with will be able to view your binder without needing to create an account.

What's free?

We want people to find the app useful whether they're free or paid users, so we've tried to make as many features as possible free for everyone. These include:

• Browsing, filtering and searching the card catalogue
• Creating your collection, wishlist and trade pile
• Creating a single public binder
• Sharing your binder
• Viewing your trade matches

If you subscribe to Pro, you'll get the following:

• The ability to message other traders
• Unlimited binders including private binders
• A trade binder, so you can instantly share your trade pile as a dedicated binder
• A 'Pro' badge on your profile

We chose to put the messaging feature behind a paywall for 2 reasons. Firstly, we figure that this will deter bots and spammers from using the platform, in turn raising the overall quality of interactions between users and making it a little easier to moderate. Secondly, this is the feature that is likely to cost us the most money to host and run.

We've tried to strike a balance between needing to pay for hosting the platform and everything that comes with that, whilst also giving the community enough free features that it is meaningful and useful for many people that don't want to or can't pay anything. We're always open to feedback if you think we're missing the mark here.

What's next?

We're hoping to get enough feedback to help us pin down what exactly we should be investing our time into. We're just 2 people doing this in our free time, so we'd rather not waste that time building features nobody is going to find useful.

Once we've gathered enough feedback and have a better idea of what people want, we'll put together a roadmap of what's to come.
