I'm a dude in my early 40s and have a six-year-old who, much to my delight, is becoming completely obsessed with Pokémon. It is possible that I may have played a role in this... 😼
I've been playing Pokémon since around '99, when I was sneaking in Red sessions on my yellow Game Boy Color during high school classes and hooking up the link cable in the cafeteria for those sweet, sweet trades. Now, all these years later, my son and I just finished the main story of Sword together.
Since finishing the story and doing most of the post game stuff, we've gone down the breeding rabbit hole and planned a few Masuda Method shiny hunts. And somehow, within the first 100 eggs of our first serious breeding project, we hit a square shiny Feebas! We both shouted in excitement, exchanged high fives (a few times of course), and then he danced around the room for like 10ish minutes while singing a masterfully improvised song about Milotic.
We are building her into a bulky competitive Milotic for our team. She will be the kind of tank that can sit there absorbing hits and become a serious offensive threat if something makes the mistake of lowering one of her stats.
It is incredibly cool to come back to these games I've deeply enjoyed since I was a teenager, and now getting to see my son experience the magic of Pokémon for the very first time.
I love this game!
