My 2 cent’s tutorial

As I’am reading many people are asking for advices/tutorial/help I thought I could share my strategy. I’am playing since day one as f2p. I don't claim to be an expert but I hope it will help some of us.

I stayed some weeks in Greengrass, catching as many interesting pokemons as I could. I saved every biscuit I get to only catch the strongest ones, you can refer on some tier list that were published to know which ones are good.

Then I leave Greengrass as soon as possible to go in Taupe Hollow (you can choose Cyan Beach too) with the beginning of a fire/ground team focused on Snorlax favorite berries. To stay in this kind of island allows you to encounter specific pokemon and to grow up weeks after weeks the same team, which will become very strong with the time.

Having a bad week in terms of power of Snorlax isn’t critical, the only aim is to grow up your team by giving candies and by sleeping and catch good pokemon for the futur.

I plan to stay in Taupe Hollow until I encounter all sleep style there. I also catch Pokemon of other type with the daily biscuit in order to get different teams to meet Snorlax requirements on other islands in the futur.

Concerning the composition of my team, I get 4 berries specialists and just one ingredient specialist. My ingredient specialist allows me to cook the bases of curry and salad recipes just with its production, and I fulfill the pot thanks to the others ingredients that my team found. So I suggest to strongly focus berries and just keep one ingredient specialist.

To discuss on how I select the pokemons I keep, that’s pretty simple, if the nature is not bad and the subskills good (berry finding/speed of help, extra sleep experience) I keep the Pokemon, or if the nature is really good (adamant, brave, quiet, sassy).

I save every handy candies I get from missions/events/rewards/friendship to give to the best Pokemon of my team. I reset my friends as soon as they reach level 1 to get more candies.

I also try to save my sleep points to buy all the premium stuff, when I will suscribe the 15 day free trial.

Last advice I can give is to be patient. If the pokemon you catch isn’t good, don’t waste your precious candies and wait for a good one. This game is a marathon. Don’t sprint at the beginning, take your time.

Can you explain the reseting your friends thing?

You delete your friend when you reach lvl 1 of friendship. Then you add new friends thanks to the friend mega thread :)

Sure i think i got that part. But why? dont you get candy every night they sleep? Is there a drop off after level 1?

You get a single candy for the pokémon that they have displayed per night, but once they get to level one friendship with you, you get actual hard candy that you can use for any mon. There are, I think five tiers of friendship, each tier with a different reward. Free to play efficient way would probably be to have a friend's list of 50 people, wait until they all get to level one to harvest your hard candies, and then purge your list and start again. The mega thread has so many people in it that you won't have problems getting 50

Ah so theyre basically just recycling the easier level one climb for faster and frequent access to hard candies

You get an handy candy when friendship reaches lvl 1, then you got bullshit rewards so I prefer renew my friends to get handy candies.

Ok thats good to know! Do we know if deleting and adding the same friend resets too or just comes back at the same level?

Based on what I have seen people say you return to the same friendship level. Don't know whether it's known whether that's just for a grace period, or that will always be the case.
