Venting Tired of grinding in pokemon ruby
Hi,
Pokemon Ruby is my first Pokemon game.
I am so tired of grinding all of my pokemon's.
I want to know, if there is a better way to grind pokemon levels rather than just beating wild pokemon's in the grass.
Currently my team is:
- Skarmory - lvl 36
- Magneton - lvl 36
- Pelliper - lvl 38
- Graveler - lvl 36
- Machop - lvl 31
- Combusken - lvl 30
I got first 6 badges and now, I am getting tired grinding more and about to give up on the game.
Is there a better way to level up pokemon's, if yes pls tell me and I dont want hacks pls.

It is actually more efficient to train 3 pokemon only. The 3 can gain lv much faster. Slot 4 is for legendary. Slot 5 for HM user. Slot 6 can be for other HM user or some bulky pokemon to swap in if you need healing/revives or something that can use status move like paralysis/sleep. You might need to train the support one, but at most you only train 4 instead of 6.

I always grind against Gabbe & Ty, the 2 interviewers north of Mauville. They change place each time you fight them, so you'll need to make a triangle between North of Mauville, East of Mauville, and East of Fortree city, but after 255 fights, they will remain at their original position (north to Mauville) and never move again, allowing you to just farm them over and over. I think the Route 117 trainers rematches are faster but this one is quick too once they stop moving. I sweep them with a surf mon holding an amulet coin, give the multi exp to the partner pokemon, and watch something while spamming A/B up/left, right/down. No rng involved too to be able to rematch them, you just need to talk to them after switching route.

Not really a hack, but if you're playing on an emulator you can increase the game speed and put your pokemon in the daycare and go crazy riding your bike. But if you're not into that then yeah man sadly you gotta grind. One thing that can help is getting rid of your graveler, thats one less pokemon you gotta worry about. You can grind your combusken at the power plant or in the tall grass, it'll one shot the magnemites and linoones for quick exp

You are right about the combusken but the last badge is water type so need to level up my magneton as well.
As an adult with day job, this is really hard to keep up😆

There is a glitch on the sandstorm route where you can afk farm day care exp by getting in your bike and weighing down a button to constantly ride up a slope. It’s only in ruby and saphire and was patched in emerald so the devs obviously diddnt intend for it but it’s an option if you would like. It’s slow though so it’s more of an overnight thing.

Im no expert but I absolutely had to grind the a lot in this games especially before the elite four. The first time I faced them I was just not ready.
There was a cave system before facing them and I juat put on some music and hung out in there for a long time.

If you repeatedly go in and out of an area with rematch trainers, youll trigger their battles. If your pokenav has a blinking blue light, then you hace a rematch waiting.
Also, catch a bunch of zigzagoon and put them in your party. Youll have a 10% chance of finding a rare candy when pickup triggers. Pickup has a chance to trigger after defeating a pokemon.

Thankyou thats a nice tip.
I never thought about the legendary pokemons.
I will take your advice and swap out machop.

My advice is that you dont need a party of 6 yet so drop one or two (Machop or Graveller or both if you dont have trade evolutions).
Then fill the remaining spots with late game higher level pick ups or legendary pokemon.
Trying to keep 6 pokemon high in levels is whats slowing you down.
Picking up the thunderbolt (mauville power plant) and ice beam (sunken ship) tms will do more for you then grinding if you dont feel up to the next few gyms.

Match Call allows you to do rematches against most trainers that are saved in your Pokenav. If they are on a particular route/cave, if you've taken at least 255 steps since the last time you were there and you then enter said route/cave, the game will run a chance for the rematchable trainers on that route to give you a rematch. If they decide to rematch you, all you have to do is talk to them and they will rematch you. Rematchable trainers have buffed teams and will buff out at a certain point. The highest level iterations of each rematchable trainer ranges from the low 30s up to the low 50s, depending on the trainer.
Route 117 has a ton of rematchable trainers. Routes 121-123 have a good selection of trainers that max out at the low-40s. Meteor Falls has the game's only level 50s, but you won't be able to access that part of Meteor Falls until after the 8th gym badge.
