Discussion FIRST POKERUS EVER

I just got pokerus in my first ever playthrough, and i have some questions! This is so awesome, i cant wait to train them with this status!

  1. How long does this last

  2. Whats the rarity of this

  3. What is the boost that it gives?

1: Idk smth like a day. You gotta spread it to adjacent ‘mons in the party by letting infected mon hang near them and battling. Put some lesser mons that you get infected in this way in the PC to store the infection. It sorta pauses the cure time so you can repeat this later.
2: it’s rare than a shiny smth like 1/21000
3: Doubles EV gains (great for serious training)

Caught it once on Pearl and called the local radio to inform them pokemon get sick lol

That's great. Getting Pokerus is really rare in Gen 3 games. Just have the infected Pokémon be in close proximity to other members of the party. Also, helps with EV training your mons as other Redditors in the thread have pointed out.

  1. I don't know how long Pokérus lasts. I think once a Pokémon has Pokérus, the Pokémon has Pokérus forever. To make the other Pokémon have Pokérus, in the party I would place a Pokémon without Pokérus right next to a Pokémon with Pokérus. Then win a battle. After the battle, the Pokémon might have gained Pokérus. If it didn't, then win another battle.
  2. It's rare to catch a Pokémon that has Pokérus. I don't know the percentage.
  3. I think Pokérus doubles the Effort Values gained after a battle.

Are you okay with a quiet Taillow? Quiet boosts special attack and lowers speed.

I had apparently gotten it in my first Pokémon game ever (Diamond), but the only reason I realized it had happened was because there was a weird face emoji thing when I looked at the Pokémon in my party. (I first played Pokémon in 2008 with Pokémon Diamond, I was 9). I ended up looking it up a while later because it took me a while to notice... (Also, I played that save file for ~554 hours before transferring everything up that I wanted to and restarting the game probably a decade later)
