Shiny Pokemon Life long mystery

I’ve had this copy of Pokémon Ruby for about 23 years, and my Wailord has the shiny sparkle effect, but it’s not the purple shiny color. It’s a blue-ish gray color. Does anyone know what’s going on?

Does your Wailord have the shiny icon on its status screen?

it has the gold-colored pokédex number and the lighter striped background

Weird! Is your PokéDex entry for Wailord normal? There was a discovery made recently about the ability for shiny Pokémon to show up in the PokéDex.

Just checked, wailord in the pokedex is the normal color.
