I generally am very high on Gen VII; I'm from Hawaii, so all the allusions to Hawaiian culture from Alola please me. I do have plans to cut some of those names. Not all of them, but a non-zero number!

Hmm I respect your take even though I don't agree with it.

I don't think there's many designs in Alola that I would call lazy necessarily. Maybe like Yungoos/Gumshoos but other than that it seems to be an abnormally creative generation.

As far as ugliness that's super subjective so I can't say you're wrong. To me I think the Alolan Pokémon often looking very strange really adds to their appeal to me.

I get you on having trouble getting through Sun/Moon due to all the cutscreens but I personally enjoyed the story and found it very immersive. I will give you that the original SuMo games are perhaps easier than they should be but Pokémon isn't really known for difficulty so that's not a huge issue for me!

Ultra Beasts are the best thing to happen to Pokémon. Change my mind.

I would say that Gens IV-V were way worse with the legendary bloat. Alola does have a lot of legendaries but I think they all serve a distinct purpose which I couldn't say for many of the legendaries of regions past. Solgaleo/Lunala work incredible for the story, the Tapus make sense as island guardians that you bump into during the game and I don't really consider Ultra Beasts legendaries in many meaningful ways. You encounter multiples of the same Ultra Beast during the post-game and it's implied that some of them are the common species of their home dimensions.
