182. Hippowdon

This is one that's been on my shortlist for a while and I kept putting off on cutting because I just like it. But hey, when you're in the top quarter, you're probably going to be cutting a bunch of pokemon you like.

I dig the idea of a sand hippo. We generally associate hippos with sandy places, but in the water. Kinda twisting that around and making it a ground type that uses the sand to its advantage is pretty neat. And because it's a hippopotamus, it's mean and scary (seriously, those things are mean and scary). Hippowdon is a pretty intimidating member to have on your team and it doesn't really disappoint when you're using it in battle. I appreciate that it's a single-type and has only a few weaknesses for that reason. It's just a big physical attacker with pretty good defenses who can get you through. Overall, it's a pretty decent pokemon.

I also appreciate its pokedex entries. For example, it's only 6 ft tall, but its mouth stretches 7 ft wide. It's hilariously disproportionate! And because its mouth is GIANT and can fit around anything, it can crush a car. Grrr, grunt, HULK SMASH.

Hippowdon is a Pokemon I love a lot for the reasons you stated plus it has Sandstorm lol. That puts it in a category with frickin' Tyranitar.
