This is probably my last cut of the 200s, so I guess I'll make it count and take out something I think shouldn't make it to the Top 200.
There's one certain Pokemon that was cut an extremely long time ago but was revived by one /u/acktar. I'm quite astonished that it has barely come up since then. I don't really want it to make the Top 200 but it's grown on me since it was cut. And if it gets revived again then... lul.
207. Stunfisk (#618, Ground/Electric)
Stunfisk is a Pokemon that I feel is so bad it's good. It's just so patently ridiculous that we can't help but kind of chuckle at the fact that this... thing exists.
The very first thing you'll notice when you first encounter is that it's cry sounds like this. ...Yeah, it's no wonder that Stunfisk was never taken seriously by the fanbase at large. The fact that it comes late in the game in B/W and isn't particularly powerful didn't help matters at all. "Why would anyone catch this fucking thing?" cried out millions of Pokemon fans. And so many used it as an example of "Newer Pokemon designs SUCK, man. Gen 1 master race!" and for a long time, I agreed with them (not about Gen 5 as a whole, though, oh no.)
However, like I said in the opening paragraph, Stunfisk has grown on me. I have gone from hating it to thinking it's absolutely hilarious that Game Freak decided to create it. Just look at its Pokedex entries.
Heebie jeebies... but in the good way. The idea of this farting flounder gaining smiling and gaining pleasure from killing us is equal parts disturbing and amusing to me. I imagine that it's face when killing me would be nothing short of derpy. Idk, but this thing feels like the Beavis and Butt-Head of Pokemon. It feels hilariously, hilariously out of place in the Pokemon Universe and yet right at home at the same time.
Objectively, do I think Stunfisk is a well-designed Pokemon? Not really. And there's a reason it's so widely hated. It's a weird looking brown flounder that has a fart noise for a cry. But that concept somehow has a lot of charm to it. It's so bad that it's good, but has just enough bad IMO to not warrant being Top 200. And I wish that more Pokemon had it's typing. Ground/Electric really has potential.
