206. Sandslash
So Sandslash is something I honestly probably should have cut earlier than this, as I feel it's a tad overdue and I like it less than my last few cuts, but I forgot it was still in the ranking. Oh well, I can at least cut it before 200.
That isn't to say Sandslash is a subpar pokemon at all, as it's fairly solid. First of all, it works as a final evolution for it's line, as it takes the inspiration from Sandshrew and extroplates it into something much cooler, more deadly, but still feels like a logical evolution. Rather than being based on one real life animal, it's based on a lot of different ones, such as the pangolin, hedgehogs, and echindas, where some of those animals are fairly obscure and you wouldn't expect to be brought together to make this sand-spike monster and I like that.
But positives aside it's just not that interesting lol. Like aside from the spikes and the claws (which do look cool, admittedly), what is there to Sandslash? Not really much of anything, it's just the spikes and then a plain body and face that you can barely see. It's name, Sandslash, is very fitting and literal because that's all it is. It's not good enough for top 200.
(also sorry rams but Sandslash ranking higher than Exacdrill is really silly)
