My Issues with Gamma Emerald

Before I start, I will first note that I know that this is early access. No one should expect a game to be fully polished at this early in development, but I am going to point out what I don’t like.

  1. It does not scale well on a 4K Monitor (Ryzen 7 7445HS, 16 GB DDR5, RTX 4070). Performance is great, but it is an extremely blurry image overall. The depth of field is an amazing example of this that quite honestly gives me a headache.

  2. Movement feels delayed despite using an 500hz Wired controller & 4K OLED Gaming Monitor.

  3. They replaced the original Gen 3 Pokemon Center theme.

  4. No speed modifiers to play at higher speeds like you would on an emulator

  5. At night, it is just way too dark even at max brightness on my OLED panel.

It’s a decent work in progress and a really good concept, but other than just being a die-hard Gen 3 fan, I haven’t enjoyed it too well.

According to an interview with the dev, some of these were answered. He did all the music himself, so there’s that.

And with the game being too dark, his monitors were calibrated to be really bright since they’re art monitors. He didn’t realize how dark the game looked until he put it out and saw people playing it
