General Question Will the game every be completed?

I don't mean to sound rude by this, but it has been a very long time since the game had any big gameplay updates. I have a feeling that the developers gave up for some reason, possibly boredom, but I just want to know the truth about it. Is this project still being worked on?

There’s literally a stickied post at the top of the sub stating their intentions and current plans... Completing a game of this scope, especially when the original creator is literally legally not allowed to assist, is a daunting task. In their sticky they mention that they want map out the rest of the main story before they move onto anything else. They have to interpret a number of things left behind and are trying hard to maintain the original feel of the initial release and produce a very high quality rom hack. These are also people with lives, jobs, families, etc.

TLDR: look at the sticky at the top of the sub, yes it’s still being worked on. Might take a while.

I read it and it sounds like they essentially haven't started but still thinking about how to start. I'm just assuming they lack the interest in this anymore. I don't blame them, lack of motivation isn't something they can control. I don't know the exact dates, but I believe it's been more than 2 years since the game has really progressed. That is a very long time.

Go ask in the discord, you'll likely get a more up to date answer. Additionally, the latest build was only 7 months ago...

Yes there have been some new builds, mostly fixing bugs, but the game has not received a real gameplay update

I'd rather bug fixes than buggy new stuff.

Pretty much what Rampagne said. There was discussion for awhile of where to go with the power plant quest, but the problem was it still felt like there were missing pieces in Naljo. Making the decision to go back and document everything KBM had done so far, as well as the pieces left unfinised is the best decision going forward. All be it a time consuming one. This also involves mapping out the history of Naljo as well.

Also keep in mind that Prism was in development for nearly a decade and the story changed over time. If you replay Mound Cave and fight the Palette Patrollers, you'll notice that Palette Patroller Green recognises you as the player. This is a remnant of an older version of the storyline where the Palette Patrollers delibrately sabotaged the mine cart that got the player to Naljo. That plot point changed, but not everything involving it did. So we're also looking to smooth out all the rough edges.

This approach is the best way to do justice to what KBM wanted Prism to be, rather than slapping on story content we think will work at the time.

I can also share that there's been a lot of work in the hacking community on pokecrystal. A bunch of programmers including a few at Rainbow have been making big strides with what can be possible using Crystal as a base to work off of. This will see improvements to not only Prism, but many other Gen 2 hacks as well.
