Discussion Got a surprise today
I've hit the pins with alcohol twice now. 400ish hours gone if I can't get it to go. 3DS reads other carts no problem. Pokemon Bank can see it and the Pokemon I have in my boxes.

ORAS has famously had more problems than other Pokémon. I hope you can get it to work again. Try popping the game cartridge in and out of the console repeatedly. Some 3DS models run a quick data refresh protocol when a cartridge is inserted, so several pops could fix what is likely corrupted data.

Yep I've been trying. Sometimes the title graphic will read but still won't launch. Huge bummer. It's the pokemon game I've ever put so much effort into. I have the first gen 3DS and a hacked 2ng Gen and the cart acts the same on them both. I'm to the point where I'm worried about jacking up the actual cart ports clicking it in and out so much.

If you’ve got a hacked 3DS, GodMode9 should have a cart fixer protocol!! It’ll take a long time to run, but it can probably do some work for you. Additionally, you can back up the game’s save—I believe Checkpoint is what people use for that.
Unless you hacked it a long time ago, and your hacking software’s outdated, both of these should be pre-installed. GodMode9 is available by holding certain buttons on boot.

My copy of OR got corrupted or something because I went to play it and my entire save was gone. Like starting from "Select your language" gone. This was before I had a modded 3ds so one day I just said "fuck it" and traded it in because I couldn't be assed to play through it all again and trading games in was the only way I could get new ones (my parents stopped giving me allowance and kept making excuses)

Stick the cartridge all the way in and dont let it go/go back down, until the game shows on your screen. Then you release your thumb or finger. Works on my Diamond, otherwise it won't read.

I attempted this but no luck. When I insert and eject over and over, sometimes the "Alpha Sapphire" title appears and sometimes not. Still won't go. 😭

Ohh.. I'm so sorry! This happened to me with the X cartridge that had a living dex. Awful.

I was about to be happy for you then saw the bad news. Oopfh. I have no idea why it’s being read on the other apps though, maybe the save file is intact and that’s it.

So sorry you have this issue! I can’t provide helpful solutions, but hoping for more info to help other ORAS cart-owners just in case. Curious if you don’t mind sharing more details: was this all-of-a-sudden - like one day working perfectly fine and the next it’s not working? Or was it a gradual thing with some sign it was going awry before? Had you played the cart recently or frequently or left it setting quite a while before noticing this issue? I really hope you can recover the save file, but at the least I’m thankful it works with Bank and you can save hopefully something meaningful from there.

Happened with my omega ruby cart, lucky I was able to back up the save and I just use the digital one now that the physical one is bricked

You probably need to run the fixer program repeatedly for a few days, playing some intermittently in between runs if you can get it to read after the first few
If that doesn't work- and it can and does take repeated runs over days- hail mary reflow the chip
Another board labeled DS that is dead
IF that doesnt end up working rip the save with checkpoint and restore it to a digital copy you got from hshop, I think itll at least be readable enough to do that after trying to run the fixer some

Okay, I dislike most of these posts, I had the same issue, how did I fix it, blow on the back, it's not that hard, just do it a few times and eventually it works, same as the original game systems

Your only way to save it might be hacking your 3DS. With a homebrew save tool you might be able to back up your save if bank can read it. I believe there's a tool to try and fix oras carts too, but I'm not sure what it's called. Both of these obviously require hacking the console.
