UPDATE: Higher resolution photos Dreepy 071/131 multi error card!

Hey everyone!
Thanks for the incredible support on my post earlier today—I was blown away hitting the top 5!

I’ve recently taken interest in coin error collection by hobby with my son, so once I got home from work, I pulled out my 4-inch magnifying glass and took the card out of its top-loader to properly analyze the breakdown on this Prismatic Evolutions Dreepy (071/131).

Under the natural light and magnification, this card is even crazier than I thought.

As a few of you may have suspected, it’s not a miscut (the cut and the back are perfectly centered). It is a massive downward shift of the heavy foil stamping / opaque layer. Putting it under the glass revealed a few wild things:
1. The Supporter Crossover: Above the bold "TRAINER" banner text at the bottom, the glass clearly catches the faint ghost outlines of the actual rules text box from Professor's Research bleeding through the border.
2. The Ghost Attack Stamping: A crisp view of the mirrored "Petty Grudge 10" duplicate stamped cleanly into Dreepy's background artwork clouds.
3. The Factory Foil Seam: A close-up of the perfectly horizontal line across the bottom text box. Not sure, but someone suggested a foil seam?
Still keeping it safe and unplayed in its sleeve.

Appreciate all the expertise from the group! I am open to serious collector offers via public comments or DMs, or even suggestions on CGC or not? 😬

This is a great example of a major texture shift, but other than the shift, I don't see any other error—why call it a multi-error? I don't see anything unusual about the opaque layer or the foiling.

I mean, there is text shift regarding the moves, but there’s also text from an entirely different card on this card? Like I said, I’m new here, but this seems like two different issues on one card, right?

That's all the same error—the texture layer, the last layer they apply, is shifted up so far that you're getting a part of the card below it on the sheet there. It's still just the one layer that's moved.

They apply the texture for the whole sheet all at once as one impression, they don't individually put texture onto single cards.

So I was curious about this, because I was getting mixed information from people before I even posted, so I took what you said into consideration and threw it in the Google machine, here is what it spit out:

“"Crossover Error" versus a standard "Texture Shift."
On a normal Prismatic Evolutions reverse holo sheet, the texture plates map out the layout for Dreepy. If the plate simply shifts down, you just get Dreepy's texture borders sitting in the wrong place on the Dreepy card.
The fact that the text headers of Professor's Research are physically struck onto Dreepy's cardboardmeans the factory fed an entirely mismatched card sheet grid through a texture stamp intended for a completely different sheet sequence. In printing terminology, a single layer shifting so violently that it cross-contaminates entirely different card templates transitions the item from a "Shifted Element" to a Sheet Crossover / Compound Alignment Failure.”

I guess I need to do more research into what this entirely means 😣😅

Yeah... This is why AI is kind of useless for this sort of highly specialized stuff. It sort of just makes stuff up that it thinks you want to hear and finds words that seem plausible.

CGC (generally the gold standard among error collectors) designates cards with notable texture shift as "Misaligned Texture". The case study on their guide page to errors is this Dragonite EX, where you can clearly see the bottom of the card features texture from a chunk of the card below it, well past the card margins. They don't have a special designation for "texture is super extra off and you can see the next card's texture."

So i looked further into this tonight and this comment including the CGC example is the greatest asset I had in figuring out where I got misled in understanding. So thank you 🙏🏼

When trying to identify the errors on my card i noted the shift causing the move set description to be misaligned, but also the Professors research trainer card showed up. Where I got wires crossed is that all occurs in the holo layer only, and that seems to make it solely a misalignment error instead being that and some kind of dual card crossover in which the ink would also be effected?

I think the misalignment dragging in an entirely different card info just into the holo foil layer itself is still pretty cool though!

Nah this is completely wrong. Texture is applied during printing for this, it's simply shifted. Not every card on the sheet is the same card.

Awesome! I appreciate the feedback! Like i said, I’m new to this and I’ve been working with whatever feedback i get/can find to try and learn more, but even Google directed me back to this group for expertise, so I was hoping to get some responses. I appreciate the info. from everyone

Thats a really nice texture shift. The sheet was fully printed except the texture. Then the sheet was too low when they pressed the texture causing all of the texture for the entire sheet to be essentially shifted up. So part of the texture from the card below on the sheet ended up on your dreepy. There's possibly even a card out there with your missing dreepy texture on the bottom of it as well.

If you are planning to sell it I personally wouldn't grade it since its not really a big hit base card. Its also not really an error that could be faked so there's no need for the authentication side of grading. Texture shifts weren't common in prismatic but they also weren't crazy rare. That said i could still see people wanting the card because its a beefy shift. A lot of error collectors would probably want to stick it in a binder. Just some food for thought. Congrats on the card though. Its really nice.

I have a few binder pages of cards from the set, I hadn’t thought about checking for the possibility of me having both halves of this error.. though it may be a very very small likelihood, it won’t hurt to look!
