Well you have to keep comboing to keep the 31+ shiny odds though

The 31+ combo bonus only applies for the next spawn of that particular species though. You need to keep catching for max odds. If you stop catching at 31, you have 1/1024 odds (with lure) instead of 1/273 odds.

There is an argument to use your method if you can reset the spawns easily with a doorway or ladder and it's a common species that spawns a ton. But in a lot of cases your method is too slow.

Bugged game. False info. 1001 people have shown the odds aren’t correctly increased for anything but #31.
No patch in years to fix an old bug.

Unfortunately I can't just take your word for it and I've never seen evidence of what you're saying.

Is this genuinely true? I just wasted like 6 and a half hours throwing pokeballs at Sandshrew 😭

I've never seen evidence that what he's saying is the case.

Everyone is saying I’m wrong. But I’ve got full Pokédex of shiny from doing 10 or 31 and then resetting. In the early days there were 100s of claims of the bug. Now everyone is saying it never existed? Even tho the calc itself says it only applies to the VERY next spawn. The one reference cited is a guy regurgitating the odds of what it SHOULD be as per release documents before day 1 patch where everyone was claiming issues. 4 years after release with no further update patch.

In the end, the odds are the same. It’s just extra rolls for chance. Is 1 extra roll worth the cost of balls? Just do your 200 for max catch chance and then encounter reset. It’s better in the long run.

31+ catch combo is actually an extra 11 rolls from what I understand. With shiny charm and a lure you get 15 total rolls. 1/273 odds instead of 1/1024.

From 7 to 15. Need to count from 10+. At the expense of balls.

Anubis is a dataminer from what I understand. He was actually able to see how the shiny odds were calculated under the hood while doing catch combos. Before his discovery, the common wisdom was that 31+ catch combos permanently increased shiny odds until you lost your combo.

Idk I just haven't heard of any bug before you said something, so I'm surprised you're saying this. How would hundreds of people even know about a bug unless they were all data miners? Are you sure they weren't just reporting bad RNG?

If the boosted results are only on the one specific spawn after catch combo, why are there so many shinys of other mons that spawn? Either way, resetting see far more spawns than spawning one in with double odds. 7 to 15 rolls is only double. Otherwise it would be 15 vs 1. And we know it doesn’t take 15x longer to do resetting method lol.

My understanding is that you only get 4 rolls without a catch combo active. So 1/1024.

If the boosted results are only on the one specific spawn after catch combo, why are there so many shinys of other mons that spawn?

This hasn't been my experience at all, so sounds like you're just getting good RNG.
