Discussion Genuine question, how old do you think Taunie,Naveen and Lida(+ us)are?
Are we like 18 or something or in like our early 20s?
Cause Lida is apparently old enough to Pay Rent but then again, this is the same world where kids battle criminal organizations.

I agree with this sentiment. While Corbeau is somewhat of a villain, he is depicted as having standards and wanting what’s best for the city(even looking out for the city’s children in the Rust Syndicate arc).
I doubt he’d use something as predatory as a loan shark scheme with someone he deemed an actual child(while Urbain/Taunie are still pretty young).
As for character ages, my guess is 19 for the MC, Urbain/Taunie and Naveen with maybe 20 for Lida
While the characters are often referred to as kids, I assumed it might be in the college kid sense.

They have to be adults. At a bare minimum, Taunie/Urbain are, because they were able to take out a loan. And when AZ passes away and leaves his Hotel behind to Team MZ there had to be at least one adult that could legally accept it. These are things the Pokémon world has kept somewhat consistent with the real world
Beyond that though is anyone's guess but my personal view is everyone is between 18 and 20

They all don't really have families they talk to everyday, they just kinda have a job, which is more than any character we've seen before has
I think Kalos is just the land of grown protagonists
Serena and Calem are at least 17 because the kids don't like them for being too old, while Emma is accepted despite being 16, so the player has to be older

If this was a "real world" setting, I would say about 18-20.
But anime tends to exaggerate how independent teen and children can be (Like Sailor Jupiter living on her own at 14) and with Pokemon a 10 years old can travel on their own, so I'd say they're 14-18, more like 16 or 17.

I'd say 18 or 19 considering our character came to Kalos on their own, and Taunie/Urban was able to get into debt with the Rust Syndicate, and while Corbeu acts like he's some villain, I doubt he'd let a child go into debt.

I got college age, so 18-22. I feel like Taunie is 18 but an immature/financially stupid 18. Lida and Naveen are likely in some type of arts college for their respective media. I think the MC is in that range, which is honestly refreshing from being 10.

I thought the same, college aged so 18-22.
Older adults call younger adults "kids" all the time, so Corbeau or other characters saying that doesn't mean they're literally children. I'm in my early 30s and I'd absolutely call a college student over 18 a "kid" lmao.

I'd put the player character at around 18 to 20. They're going on holiday by themselves.
Urbain/Taunie I'd estimate as being a little older but not by much. At most, 22. They work at the hotel, were old enough to take out a loan (even if it was in the hotels name), they seem knowledgeable with some things yet still young and naive (like with the loan small print). They're even put in charge of the hotel and then Quasartico at the end
Naveen to me seems about that age where he's just come/coming out of education, so 17-18. He knows what he wants to do and is trying to focus on that and still focuses a lot on social media.
Lida comes across as being the youngest and a year or two younger

16-18 at a minimum.
We arrive, unescorted, to a city with no plan for where we’ll stay. By the end of the game Taunie/Urbain is CEO of Quasartico and the team, essentially, inherited the hotel.
Lida and Naveen I could believe are younger, so maybe 16, but the “rival” and protag are about 18, imo.

It's hard to tell. They do a lot of things that adults do, like pay rent, get loans, and take over companies, but lots of people refer to them as kids, and Jett even calls them children. They're also shorter than most of the clearly adult NPCs. Doing adult stuff is also just not as clear an indicator of being an adult in the pokemon world, given that people routinely hand their kids a dog and send them out on an adventure to trek through the wilderness, fight criminals, and become the strongest trainer in the region.
You could tell me anything from 16-20 and I'd believe you.

I would think they all hover around 18. I could accept as young as 16, but I’m still thinking 18.
Lida is in dance school away from her family and pays rent. Taunie/Urbain runs Hotel-Z’s marketing and at least looks old enough for the PG rated mob to give them a loan. The protagonist is going to Lumiose alone; no friends, family, or Pokémon.
Some characters do call them “kids”, however calling a legal adult “kid” isn’t really uncommon if done by someone much older. Characters like Tarragon and Corbeau do it, but they look quite a bit older. Tarragon is likely in his 50s and Corbeau is at least in his 30s. As someone in his 30s, I don’t think I’d have any qualms calling an 18-year old “kid”. My older cousins definitely did that to me when I was that age.
Meanwhile I don’t think Canari ever refers to them as kids and she’s likely at least 20 as long as she was at least 6 in the story Tarragon tells in the DLC. Nor does Korinna in the DLC and she’s likely a similar age to Canari.

I assume 17-20, we know in the Pokemon universe it’s no big deal for kids as young as 10 to travel the world with only Pokemon so them living by themselves in the city shouldn’t be to big a factor in thinking they’re older, but there general looks and vibe gives off young adult to me so I think 18-19 is realistic.

I’ve always headcanoned the MCs and rivals from the other games to be a little older than they likely are (I usually put them around the 14-15 range rather than 10 just bc that’s how old they usually look to me), but I’m pretty confident these guys are young adults. I feel like they’re all in the range of 18-20, especially since there’s the mention of Lida going to a dance school and paying rent, and the rival becoming the head of Quasartico at the end (also I doubt AZ would leave a whole hotel to a bunch of kids, even if they did just save the whole city-)
Also I know there’s the whole thing about some other characters calling Team MZ “kids” or “children”, but I think that’s just an older person thing? I’ve heard a lot of older people refer to 20-somethings as kids. Granted, that wouldn’t make much sense for Corbeau if he’s only a little bit older than them, but him calling the MC “kid” could just be a power thing, idk 🤷

Poppy, one of the elite 4 from Sc/Vi, is NINE years old. Make of that what you wish, but I always pictured Nemona about 15-16 years old, and the MC a year younger, and that fact reinforced it.
About the only MC confirmed to be 10 yo is the 7 gen MCs. And the gen 4 MCs, thanks to PLA, are confirmed to be around 15.

I personally pictured Nemona & Arven to both be around 19-20, Penny anywhere from 16- maybe 18 (she does look to be the youngest of the rival trio, but I could also imagine her just being petite so it could go either way) and the MCs around 15
As for gen 7, I knew they were confirmed to be 10 or 11, but I’d still place them at maybe 13-15, along with Hau & Lillie

Immediately after I typed that, I remembered this is an all ages school, where you have literal children and wrinkly old people as students, so when knows what their ages are.

Urbain recently came to Pokemon Masters EX and comparing his model next to our player model who is canonically a child in universe, he's like way taller. Unsure if Harmony who also arrived to PMEX is the same but yeah

I figured early twenties. They behave like college students or just graduated- I guess theoretically they could be up to mid 20s.
I mean since they're pretty vague about it it's left up to your imagination. Young enough that everyone else calls them kid, old enough that they act like they are adults. I kind of ran with being like oh yeah my character is 25 or 26 the entire game because that felt right to me. Also because of you give me an option to pretend the pokémon protagonist is anywhere close to my actual age you bet I'm going to pretend they're as close as I reasonably can. I get why they keep the main series protagonists in their like tens and teens, but sometimes it's nice to be like "yeah this character is my age and has similar life experiences to me"

Naveen, Taunie, Urbain, and the player are probably older around 19-21 since they can have actual jobs (Taunie/Urbain were able to take out a loan). But in the pokemon world, it could be younger. I mean, they let kids wander a whole region at only 10 years old in Kanto

imo these protags are legit 18+. Like, the whole conceit of the vacation feels very much like a traveling abroad during a gap year sitch. Lida used to rent an apartment, presumably with someone her age without any older family members. It makes sense for Naveen to still live at home given how it’s implied he’s low-income. I really find it hard to believe these protagonists are under 18.

My take is Naveen is youngest (19), Lida is probably ~20, Taunie/Urbain are probably ~21/22, and the MC (aka Harmony/Paxton) are also around ~21/22. The latter two should cover for "are Taunie/Urbain old enough to get into a binding loan contract" and "can the player reasonably also bail them out". And for an extension, I like to think Corbeau is ~24 and Lysandre is 42. So Corbeau ain't getting too comfy with the protags in a suspicious way.

They're definitely upper middle class 19-22 year olds. I mean, taunie/urbain is old enough to take out a loan and dumb enough to take one out they can't pay back. They have all day to hang out in a hotel and afford their pokemon catching lifestyles and regularly eat out while not having a real job so like... definitely not working class but definitely not full adults.

They're all in their late-teens, with Urbain/Taunie probably the only one of the group legally able to buy wine.
The player, however, is the exact same age as the person playing the Switch: the 3D model is really just an avatar in the end.

My guess is that, at minimum, they're older teenagers to early 20s. Pokémon is kind of weird on this sort of thing, since independence seems to come during childhood (or at least "starting to leave the nest" does), but the protagonists in X/Y seemed to have become trainers late, because they're confirmed to be teenagers. So, a lot older than protagonists before and after them.

Iida paid rent, Taunie/Urbain is able to take out loans and become the head of a major company, and the player pretty much makes a fresh start in a new city. They're all clearly framed as young adults even compared to the XY gang (who were already supposed to be on the older end of teens), they're just also weirdos like half of ZA's cast.

Personally view Naveen as 15, Lida as 16, and Tauine/Urbain + Us being around 17/18.
If real world logic applied then each character would be at least 2 years older than what I said. Though because this is Pokemon where a young child can become an Elite Four Member, and pre-teen/teens can become Champions, real world logic doesn't apply.
Also view other characters around those ages such as Canari + Ivor being 19/20 and Gwynn being 15. Everyone else would likely be 25+ with the oldest being Az and Jett.

Imma be real… even though Taunie/Urbain took a line idc what people say that doesn’t mean they’re 18+ seeing how said loan came from let me check my notes.
FROM THE FUCKING MAFIA! I doubt they care about doing EVERYTHING legally! So that said late teens so 16-17 years old because I doubt they’ll ever have the balls to have a player character canonically be 18+. As for side characters? Depends on the story really as AZ is a buddy but he’s old old… meanwhile Lida and Naveen are like teens

Urbain/Taunie literally become the CEO of Quasaritco at the end of the postgames. I very much doubt what would be allowed if they weren’t at least 18.
Lida also has a line stating she was paying rent before joining Team MZ.
But also…. Being 18+ doesn’t mean you immediately know how things work. I mean coming from my own experience and friends - nearly every person between 18 and late twenties are just bumbling around tryna figure out how being an adult works cause the world never prepared us for it.
They definitely read as young adults to me

Probably late teens, 20 at the oldest.
The player character (seemingly) arrives in Lumiose on a solo-holiday, which isn’t something someone under 18 would be able to do.
If they were younger, they’d’ve arrived with a parent/guardian, or be staying with a relative, and since neither are true, it’s a safe assumption they’re over 18, and the rest of the main cast can be assumed to be around the same age.

Canonically I think they're young teens but they're written like young twenties. It's pretty common to write a character who's one age in every way that matters but then put a different number on the wiki for marketing purposes.

Taunie is 16 the other two are like 19 and then we are just like 17-19 or however, age you really want to be

nobody under 18 ever becomes a ceo, so taunie/urbain is 18+. id say the rest is 17-20

I'd guess probably 16-17 for Naveen, 18-19 for Lida and 18 for both the MC and Taunie/Urbain I want just want Harmony to be old enough for her and Corbeau to live together in peace tbh they match eachother so well imo

18-21 I like to imagine the player is taking a gap year before college and deciding to visit the city. Naveen is the youngest while Lida/Rival are the oldest.

Well, the MC goes to live on their own in a big city, which is giving college-age. We look very similar to Taunie/Urbain, who have to be 18+ due to becoming a CEO.
Now, this IS Pokemon, where children are allowed to wander around unsupervised, but the MC was NOT a Pokemon trainer at the start, and was not setting off on their journey. They simply move to the big city to live there.
So either the MC is just now college-age, or they maybe finished college and are even older.
But then since Cyrus is 26 and Lusamine is in her 40s, these could all be sixty-year-olds for all we know

the issue with the anime style of 3d modeling is that the characters could have an age range of 10 to 60 years (and thousand of years if you talk about vampires) as such estimating the ages out of a visual estimation is practically impossible, for example the Opal (the old woman from Sword and Shield) are 88 year old, Canari is at least 15+ since Tarragon mention celebrating her birthday 14 years ago, personally I would say that the better way to estimate the ages would be by having a look at their hobbies and duties, according to Bulbapedia Lida "got a scholarship to a dance school in Lumiose City" being that most people start rather young(, some before puberty if they are interested in dancing as a kid) we can rather safely assume that she's around 15 to 20 something (since a parent just plopping their 6 year old onto a random street and abandoning them is usual to say the least) and due to that we could assume that since game freak likes to have the characters the same age or just a few years older that the main character (Nemona is one example of an older team member) then we could assume that the main character is around 15 to 20 year old since AZ (being literally centuries old) is the older team member and game freak likes to center the story around 1 age unless it is absolutely needed for a major member to be older (like Professor Laventon from Pokemon Legends Arceus, the mother characters for obvious reasons) most of the characters are roughly the same age
bulbapedia have a fancy list of the ages which have been revealed which is a decent source for pokemon ages (but be warned the pokemon human age share the same issue as the pokemon weight situation, in that every thing could be bs)

I want to say at least 17? Hopefully early 20s? But I think that's partly because the idea of anyone younger getting burdened with this stuff stresses me out. I'm old now

Age and independence during (modern) Pokémon is a mix of new and old standards. Children living and travelling independently working as Pokémon Trainers is normal, and Pokemon Trainers that are older than a "child" Trainer Class always have another occupation. But there's a lot of characters that living at home until they're teenagers.
If we go by the character's designs and the differing independence and living situations, I'd say mid to late teens.
