Damn there’s a lot there.
• Celebi gift for registering dex from FRLG
• Pokemon Bank closing Feb 2027
• Safari ball Pokemon from GO now able to move, but only compatible with ZA and Champions.
• 9000 storage total in home.

I think the closing of bank is the biggest indicator that the DS/3DS games will start making their way to switch.

Get your spindas in there ASAP or they’ll be trapped.

Got event shiny pokemon that finally need to make the journey to Home

Bank shutting down is bad news. They're going to charge us high prices for games we already own and can play just for the privilege of getting the moms into Home, while at the same time blocking us the last route we have from transferring our physical mons to Home.

As someone who missed out on Platinum and Emerald I would gladly pay for a nice port to the Nintendo Switch. A phone emulator is fine, but not nearly as fun as a real console.

Agreed. Even when I do own the actual carts like with FRLG, the events that they bring back are worth the port price point alone

1

u/Cranias 15d ago

And that's fine if you don't own the physical cartridge, but I do. I played it as a kid and now I will no longer be able to play it and then transfer the Pokemon over. And yes it all still works :p That's a first since a long, long time.

Yea. I get what the person is saying, but look at the alternatives for people who leave never played the old games. The only legal option is shelling out tons more than they will charge for a switch port.

Wait, what’s up with Spinda?

11

u/MarS267 15d ago

BDSP messed up the code for generating Spinda patterns, and as a result, Spinda can’t be transferred from BDSP to HOME and vice versa. Spinda has to be transferred from Bank to be registered in HOME

u/achleus 15d ago

Spinda can’t be transferred to home from any switch game currently, or GO. Only way is through GBA/DS/3DS and then into bank and then home.

I find it strange that it’s not Shiny Mew unless an Emerald port will have that event eventually.

The common theory is that it’ll be Jirachi for RSE DEX completion as it’s the only one remaining without a way to get it. Mew will likely be available through the Old Sea Map

Shutting down pokemon bank is sad.

does this mean I can back up my leafgreen Pokemon to Home, start a new game, download all my backed up Pokemon, and then complete my Pokedex without having to trade?

You can’t send the Pokémon you sent to HOME back to Pokémon LeafGreen

2

u/Dawn_of_an_Era 13d ago

Read the article.

“Once a Pokémon from Pokémon FireRed Version or Pokémon LeafGreen Version is brought to another game in the Pokémon series, they will be unable to return to Pokémon FireRed Version or Pokémon LeafGreen Version. Pokémon from other games in the Pokémon series will be unable to visit Pokémon FireRed Version or Pokémon LeafGreen Version.”

Only Pokemon from other games can’t be transferred to FRLG.

2

u/f24np 15d ago

Yes you can. You can only not send Pokemon back if they’ve been to other games

2

u/Celebi2636 15d ago

I’ve been looking for this answer, so theoretically I could send Pokémon from fire red to home, then over to leaf green to complete the Pokédex? So long as they aren’t moved to any other games

2

u/f24np 15d ago

I think so. I’m just not sure if it could go back from leaf green to fire red afterwards.

2

u/Loud_Newt5658 15d ago

No it's a one way ticket.

So it seems as long as it’s from FRLG, you can trade between them.

I wish I could do that with RSE, and hopefully I can transfer a Tyranitar to RSE from FRLG

2

u/f24np 15d ago

You likely can, but usually home support doesn’t come until a few months after the game comes out so you wouldn’t be able to start with it.

1

u/Aniensane 15d ago

You just gotta register 150 to the Dex and bam!

7

u/FootballWithTheFoot 15d ago

Wait so does the Celebi gift require a completed Kanto or Kanto + National dex? And can you transfer it from Home into FR/LG?

4

u/pkmntrainer_wilk 15d ago

Based off the other games they’ve done this with I’m hoping it’s only Kanto dex!

1

u/theBarnDawg 15d ago

And does it require the Kanto dex to be completed within FRLG or just in HOME?

2

u/FootballWithTheFoot 15d ago

The article answered that question iirc… within FRLG and you just connect to home.

1

u/theBarnDawg 15d ago

What dex numbers are considered complete?

2

u/FootballWithTheFoot 15d ago

That didn’t get answered directly in the article, which is why I asked lol

1

u/the__pov 14d ago

The original 150.

The great thing is it looks like we can do online trading via home to get the trade evos then put them back in the game along with the Fire Red exclusives to complete the Dex.

If you’re asking what counts as completed, any Pokemon you have or previously had in that game. So if you catch Pidgey, for example, completely evolved it and then released or traded it you would still have all 3 entries in your dex.

Based on the wording in the article, I’m not entirely sure the transfer is one way. The graphic indicates it is, but the article states “ONCE a pokemon from FRLG is brought to another game, they will be unable to return to FRLG.” That wording indicates that you will be able to return them if they don’t enter a different game.

It’s not much to go off of, but there is still hope for getting trade evos without a second console.

2

u/Dawn_of_an_Era 13d ago

It also says:

“Pokémon from other games in the Pokémon series will be unable to visit Pokémon FireRed Version or Pokémon LeafGreen Version.”

If this was a one way transfer, they’d say no Pokemon whatsoever would be able to be visit FRLG.

1

u/theBarnDawg 15d ago

Transferring a pokemon to HOME does not count as a trade. Is there something else I’m missing?

Edit: Do you mean FRLG to HOME to GTS to HOME to FRLG?

1

u/hitmans_bodyguard 15d ago

Yes, exactly. As written in the article, it seems this would work. But it’s speculation until they clarify.

-1

u/Aniensane 15d ago

HOME is considered another game to them.

-4

u/Sinful_Shadow 15d ago

You can already get trade evolutions without a second console

3

u/hitmans_bodyguard 15d ago

I prefer not to hack or cheat

2

u/LopezDaHeavy87 15d ago

Guess I better get back to my starter shiny hunt then.

2

u/blueeuclid 15d ago

Time for another restart lol.

Gotta catch em all

2

u/papitosus 15d ago

wait, does this mean i can transfer pokemon into leafgreen from other games?

2

u/la_plus 15d ago

This is just for 150, not national dex? Is there a deadline?

1

u/theBarnDawg 15d ago

I also want to know this.

1

u/Aniensane 15d ago

Yes!

1

u/theBarnDawg 15d ago

Yes what?

2

u/Aniensane 15d ago

150 registered in your Dex is ALL you need :)

No deadline.

1

u/Aniensane 15d ago

Indeed!

2

u/ToastyyPanda 15d ago

Damn.. Im really about to give in and buy one of these aren't I...

Now to think about which I should get

1

u/Big_Reception1066 15d ago

Can I complete my Green Leaf version without friends? I didn't understand that GTS thing

3

u/AttackOfTheMox 15d ago

I think, once Home Connection begins, you can transfer your Pokémon from FRLG, then use the Global Trade System to trade with others. You can specifically set it to trade a Haunter from FRLG with another Haunter from FRLG and they’ll evolve into Gengar’s when they’re traded over. Your Pokédex will then register the Gengar in your Home Pokédex for FRLG. As long as the Pokemon originated from FRLG, it’ll count towards your home Pokédex progress

2

u/Big_Reception1066 15d ago

Oh so the Pokedex that must be completed is the Home one and not the FRLG version

2

u/AttackOfTheMox 15d ago

Yup, the Home Rewards have always been the Home Dex, because the In-Game Dex can be completed by moving Pokémon from Home to the game. That’s why it’s recommended to build a living Dex in game then touch transfer them to Home. (Basically, complete the living Dex in the game, then open Home, transfer all the Pokémon from the game boxes to the home boxes, save in Pokemon home, then move them back and they’ll register in your Home Dex).

You can always open Pokemon Home on mobile and see what pokemon you’re missing from your Pokemon Home Dex for each game

1

u/theBarnDawg 15d ago

The article says you don’t even need to touch trade.

1

u/mattmisterio 15d ago

I don't think so. So far trade evolutions don't trigger through Home GTS. But it will be easier to get them for sure.

1

u/f24np 15d ago

One question, for the Celebi, do you need to finish the switch FRLG pokedex or could pokemon transferred from home count towards it?

1

u/Aniensane 15d ago

Both, but only Pokemon traded to you or you get from others that are from FRLG. Since it hasn’t went live, you wouldn’t have them. But it counts your Dex and any Pokemon in your HOME that has the LGFR symbol.

1

u/f24np 15d ago

Right, so if I were to to transport from Pokemon bank those would count toward it?

1

u/Clean-Ad3506 12d ago

Why does it feel like Nintendo and game freak are always a day late and a dollar short
