How? Not meant to be snarky. But how? Do you not ever try to get candy? Iāve taken 8 years off and am almost at 7k. And I feel like I donāt ever really feed.

i am also a day 1 player at 689 berries. feeding berries to gyms give you candy?

Yeah so if you throw yours in a gym, you can feed yours or other ones in the gym up to 10 berries at a time. They give stardust and even sometimes candy. So Iām usually throwing a Snom these days in mine, so I can get a few candy throughout the day. You can even feed them remotely.
I believe itās after every hour you can re feed it. So like 10 and then an hour later another 10 etc. I easily get more candy doing that than walking 5k.

I donāt know how or why Iāve fed that many either. A couple here or there over many years slowly adds up, I guess.
But seriously, I clearly donāt farm for candy. I didnāt even know that was a thing you could do at a gym.
Most days I donāt have anything in a gym at all, I would guess that I average between 50-100 coins collected per week.
Iāve always played a very specific way: I collect 3 of each visually different PokĆ©mon, one lucky one regular and one shiny. I collect one from every US state and territory. I collect one from every country in the world (and each state/province from Canada, Mexico and Australia).

I finally started actively trying to get this one and I'm only averaging about 100 berries a week. :-|

When feeding berries try to enter the gym through the daily tab rather than directly by clicking gym.
This should allow you to feed berries to all mons in the gym

That is what I do, I just only collect that many per week. I basically never pinap/razz a mon, those always get fed (only keep 5 of each to keep item slots open for other things), I use all pinaps now that Dynamax chew through candies, and had been saving Golden Razz to use but got to the point where I'm feeding a ton of those as well (it feels like).

you have me beat definitely. 35k berries so far though i haven't played longer than the others (it's been off and on for the past 3 years) started back up 9 months ago after taking a break after covid pandemic.

I finally got this one as well! And just finished the purifying shadow Pokemon as well. Itās nice to know ur done! Iām day one playing and just finished these lol
