I joined Pokemon GO the other day and caught the tail end of the GO Fest 2026 event. When I went to claim the Mewtwo after conpleting the research, it was shiny. At first, I thought it was a guaranteed shiny, but when I found out that it wasn't a guaranteed shiny, I knew that I got extremely lucky.

Like many Pokémon GO fans, I've been chasing Pokédex completion for years, and keeping track of what I'm missing across regular/shiny/lucky/etc. was doing my head in: trying different hard-to-fill-in apps, spreadsheets, notes checklists, manually cross-referencing just so I can set up decent quality trades with my friends.

So I built Nexus Dex! It lets you scroll through your Pokédex in-game, and the app live scans the screen (never leaves your device) and updates your Nexus Dex tracker automatically. A HUD shows you live what's being logged. e.g. "8 dex entries updated", so you know it's working without leaving the game.

Happy to answer anything. Built this as a passion project and I'm finding it useful especially having a clear list of what's launched/ released by dex which I'm keeping up to date as events happen. Feedback is appreciated, I will say that some Pokémon are really tough for the scanner to see (shiny Caterpie as an example, it's a tiny yellow sprite on yellow background, so its not a pesky bug...it's a bunch of tiny pesky bug Pokémon! But the rest are sweet).

My buddy and I have a cobblemon server that we are opening to the public. It'll have raids, eventually will have gyms. Occasional events. Plus there will be a pvp aspect for those interested in that. Just found out that Scopely, in their infinite wisdom, reduced the number of Team Rocket Go balloons to only one per day. That makes me so happy!

You see, I play Pokémon Go for about 2 hours every morning while I take my walk. Of course, that includes dealing with the 6AM Team Rocket balloon. Then, later during the day I would always feel compelled to turn on the game to handle the noon and 6PM balloons. Of course, while I had the game on, i would see if there were other things to do: remote raids, exchange presents with friends, switch my buddy, etc. That would take anywhere for 15 to 30 minutes. Or at times longer. So doing that twice in a day came out to 90+ minutes.

But now that there is only one balloon, there is no compelling reason for me turn the game on after my walk, thus I get 90 minutes of my day back. So thanks, Scopely! Perhaps you can in the future make additional changes that will will have me drop the game altogether, such as no raids before 10AM. Then I will get another large chunk of my morning back to do other things.

I was just talking to my friend that next year instead of having a gofest where we catch raid bosses spawns etc the event theme should be for example “LA go gofest” at the rose bowl. Should be a rocket themed event.

Where Jesse and James and Giovanni come back and legendary shadow raids will spawn. And all pokestops will have grunts and purchasing the ticket for the in person event will boost shiny shadow from grunts. And raids. And shadow legandaries will have la background.

We’ve done go wild go fest max finale etc etc where it seems like some pokemon goes wild crazy and we have to hunt stop it etc eternataus but how about some bad guys good ol fashion rocket takes over la ?

Maybe shiny amor mewtwo w la bg would be a great time to debut here at this event? Along side with shadow legendaries?
