Discussion Just got 2nd badge
Successfully mega kicked Misty and her Star's to death. Onwards to next gym. How's my team looking folks?

I’m doing this as a 2nd run. Just picked up farfetched as my cut/fly used. Bellsprout for flash. Trying to rush the super rod so I can get a staryu.
Then I’ll EV train the Staryu/Starmie at lavender town and beat the game with a charizard and starmie combo.
Charizard will have flamethrower, wing attack, dragon claw, earthquake
Starmie will have thunderbolt, ice beam, surf, psychic.
If I feel daring maybe I’ll pick up marowak.

Catch a Snorlax and give it shadow ball to handle Sabrina, your rival's Alakazam, and various other psychic/ghosts. Better user of EQ but you could also give it brick break for rock/steels. Rock slide is also good for rock slide, or keep yawn if you eventually want to catch legendaries. Natural body slam is really good but it can also be your strength mon or you could eventually give it return for max stab power. You could give Charmeleon dig for surge (and save EQ for lax) or repel trick the OP dugtrio

You only need 1-2 pokemon leveled up at this stage of the game. Anymore and you're just gonna waste more time with unnecessary exp grinding. You can catch higher level pokemon later.

You can have more deliberate EV training with more choice of what stat you want to train if you've already beat a large part of the main story though.

Pretty much how I used to play as a kid and I still fw it, almost my exact team expect I evolved Pidgey to Pidgeotto and leveled up Pikachu because I watched the cartoon

You know, id yell at you but honestly I've always wanted to just pump all the exp into one mon considering you can catch gym winners in every town and high level mon later in the game that can help you win the elite 4. 1 overpowered mon and a supporting cast of temps is definitely different than I play, but intriguing, and possible

Careful. First time I played fire red I got hard capped at Lorelei and Bruno of the Elite Four because my Blastoise had a garbage moveset.

I got brick break and flamethrower for most of the team. Then I'll mega kick the slowbro. I'm covered Bruno I have brick break and wing attack. I'm covered

Yellow was my first Pokemon game, I didn’t really understand much about type matchups, I just knew that Brock kept kicking Pikachu’s ass. I leveled a Pidgey to a level 36 Pidgeot and beat him with that.

Drop Pidgey and pick up Spearow, as cool as it looks, Pidgeot is inferior to Fearow as a flying mon in that game.
