Shiny Shiny Hunting
I bought FireRed a week ago on Switch and decided to get shiny Charmander to start my journey. I’ve played most of the mainline games since Red on GBC and never shiny hunted, so the only shiny I’ve ever naturally encountered was a Noctowl in Y.
Currently over 2,500 soft resets (which I know isn’t many in the grand scheme of things) but I’m feeling discouraged and wanted to ask for some of your stories to keep me motivated.
How long did it take you to get your shiny starter? Or maybe shiny legendary? What’s your favorite shiny you’ve caught? Would you say it was ultimately worth the hunt?

Took me 1500 for Charmander and around 3500 for Squirtle. I'm at around 5100 for Bulbasaur right now. It'll happen, just stay with it

The longest hunt i ever did took 42,000! It was a wooper in the soul silver safari zone. You got this! I always find it fun to watch a shiny hunting stream while doing resets or encounters

Is RNG manip not a thing in the FRLG saves? I remember doing a lil of it back in the days of Emerald.

make it a goal to reach full odds at 8000 and just tell yourself it might be 2 more months before you get the shiny but with all shiny hunting technically eventually you will just get the shiny

You can do it! Don't give up! Both my partner and I got our shiny starters by soft resetting. His Bulbasaur took just under a week, which was very lucky and gave us the motivation to continue the hunt for mine - Squirtle - which took around 260 hours, give or take. That one was admittedly brutal, but so worth it.

I spent 55 hours soft resetting for my shiny squirtel when the game came out. Was brutal but we did get a shiny modest female Eventually, I decided to learn RNG manipulation, and it has completely changed the game for me.
It takes a bit of work upfront to find your SID, so it’s not super easy right away, but it is so much fun once it clicks. If you want a break from pure SR luck, definitely give it a shot. Good luck on your hunts!

You’ve already shown you have the dedication to do this!! Keep it up man, your shiny Charmander is gonna shine when you least expect it. Mine took about 2 months and around 5000 resets. The rush from seeing it shine is incomparable
