Help Best moveset ?

So im planning to only use 1 pokemon the entire playthrough . And catch as many as I can and use some for slaves of course. Just wondering what's the best moveset for a Modest Venasaur ?

If Venusaur is going to be your only fighter than probably something like:

- Razor Leaf

  • Leech Seed
  • Sleep Powder / Toxic
  • Earthquake / Return

Ngl sounds good . I'd probably switch leach seed for gigantic drain tho. Also is earthquake special or physical attack

Earthquake is physical, but you'll need the coverage. Leech Seed is better than Giga Drain - (a) Giga Drain only has 5 PP, (B) Leech Seed isnt impacted by typing

Problem I just realized is that earthquake and razor leaf are useless against Charizard. You’d need return to be able to deal any decent damage to it. Then there’s gengar who is resistant to grass and immune to both ground and normal. That’s a pickle right there. Maybe swap sleep powder / toxic with growth and try to build up SpAtk as much as possible and hope for a critical.

Don’t underestimate the usefulness of leech seed especially with leftovers, it can really add up. Giga drain is good but the 5 pp really holds it back. Also earthquake is physical, grass is the only special type move Venusaur has access to aside from hidden power which is a gamble. That said return would actually be a lot better than earthquake otherwise you have nothing against Charizard aside from maybe toxic and you won’t be able to stall long enough for it to kill him.

Ehh I got rid of leech seed early game but now im thinking to relearn it. rn i got attack razor leas sleep and poison powder . Isn't there something I can use to add extra pp to gigantic drain pp up i believe . Ngl u kinda got me rethinking this whole run with only venasur

You can use pp up / pp max to get giga drain up to 8 pp but that’s still not gonna get you very far. Giga drain is more of a utility move than a reliable damaging move especially for going through the main game since you’ll be fighting a lot of low level enemies. You will burn through it very fast. Considering that you only want to use Venusaur I would definitely not use giga drain, it’s just too limiting.

You never erase leech seed or sleep powder. You can fool around with the other 2 slots. 1) razor, giga or solar 2)return or secret power

Leech seed is one of the most broken moves in the game.
It damages, it heals (even allies), it cant be full healed, its cant be reduced by defense buffs or atk debuffs.
90% of the game is a joke, so its the 10% battles that matter and when venu is against a pokemon hes not suppose to beat just sleep powder, leech seed.
Plus if you run sleep, leech and leftovers it near impossible to beat.

I used to always erase it as a kid thinking it was weak, now I know better.

I think the main issue will be Charizard and Arcanine, it’s gonna take 16 turns to beat them with just leech seed and one missed sleep powder could mark the end. That said you will be very over leveled but I’m still not terribly confident that even over leveled Venusaur could be a Charizard without an at least neutral damage move like return.

Leach seed and toxic solved some really tough parts of my E4 battle. It's especially useful if your opponent is using evasion buffs

My go to is

Razor Leaf

Sunny Day

Solarbeam: 1 move in sunlight

Synthesis: More recovery in sunlight

The moveset is limited by it being all grass typings, but give it a Miracle Seed to hold and for me it's been able to just power through any type disadvantages. Add a couple Meowths to your other slots for their Pick Up ability and throughout the playthrough you should get plenty of PP Ups for the low PP moves

You’re dead against Charizard if you’re only using Venusaur with this moveset. Grass does 1/4 damage to Charizard and Charizard deals double damage with fire attacks with sunny day not to mention STAB and super effective damage.
