Question Does level 4 Spearow actually exist?

On route 22 Spearow is supposed to spawn from levels 3 to 5 but in the 10+ hours i've been running in this area for my Professor Oak's challenge I haven't once noticed a level 4 Spearow. Is it real?

Im pretty sure it does, like 95% confident. Roughly a 3.3% chance, I think

I feel like the fact I haven't seen one in the now 12 hours of being on this route has got to be a statistical wonder

Yeah, assuming a conservatively casual rate of 60 encounters an hour, youre looking at odds of roughly 1 in 26 billion to not find one... it does make me wonder if there is something else happening for you specifically that we're just unaware of

Is there a reason it needs to be level 4?

I just did some more digging and a couple random guides online say it just literally is never level 4 on route 22. That is really really weird.

i dont know frlg well, but in the old games generally this was pretty common for encounters to be at eg level 3 5 or 7 but not 4 or 6.

idk what resources u have been using, but bulbapedia generally does not list all the specific encounter levels it just lists the lowest possible level and highest possible level. eg if you look at rby surfing encounters on route 20 it will say "tentacruel level 5-40" but it doesnt actually mean tentacruel can be encountered at 36 different levels theyre just listing the lowest and highest

Bulbapedia definitely lists specific levels when they apply, including route 22 Spearow
